low and bloody slow !!!!!!

Post by Gordoncrabb »

Bought myself a nice cleanish 2006 SDI ex chemical van, stunk a bit ! but was ready for my usual fiddle !

My aim was to make a mini version of my T5 that I had just done !

Image

So off with the bumpers on with some DRL led headlights, bought a CSR Touran bumper from Germany, and filled and smoothed the headlight washers out then cut and fitted fitted up the mesh grilles as they are not supplied ! a rear barndoor spoiler, a badgeless grille, a new back primered bumper.

Test fitted the front bumper turns out a bit of a b**tard as usual nothing fits however got there in the end, then couple of base coats of primer and white mirrors coded and then into the oven for a bit, then mask up lay on the matt black, bake and a bit of a refit and here !

Image

Next Vmaxx adjustable sus and a set of 7x17" Fuch replicas with 215x45x17 tyres!

Test fitted down as low as possible, completely un-drivable 120mm!

So raised it up again ended up with an 80mm drop works perfect with speed humps etc...!

This has taken about 15 hours now over the period of a week i'm now looking forward to the next time when money and family permits!!! but for now my wife wants me to start on her Beetle V5 but thats a job for another forum!!
The next things when I get the chance chrome side Bars, Mk5 Golf GTi seats on Touran base consoles, carpet lined, modified rock and roll bed from a T5 and some sort of sound system involving 2x12" subs watch this space
Thanks for looking hope you enjoyed

Lovely van! Where did you get the headlights and how much did they set you back if you don't mind me asking?

The headlights came from ye old faithful eBay I did get a lucky price at the time I paid £219 but the same company is now charging £249 !! But my advise is check out German websites even after p+p the prices can often be better than UK take for example the front CSR bumper although a little tricky to fit £189 inclusive of the delivery !!!
