Couple of bits added recently. Turns out I couldn't order carriers through work, as all their parts places said you had to go direct with the dealer for them, not too sure why that is, so I reckon I'll just end up painting the calipers red unless I find any carriers at a decent price somewhere then I'll look into a brake upgrade, not too bothered at the moment, I'm stopping fine without.

It's slowly taking shape, wish I had pockets as deep as some so I could get it finished sooner rather than later.

Also have this waiting to be fitted, hopefully get cruise control sorted at the same time.

One thing I have noticed though is as I'm adding weight (not much, just soundproofing and insulation so far) my mpg has gone up ever so slightly. Got 485 miles with the light only being on for the last 5 miles or so on the last tank, but have driven like more of an arse than normal, yet have only managed 450-60 before the light coming on when trying to drive conservatively... Is this normal, or just an anomaly? I'm filling up with roughly 55 litres each time, give or take about half a litre.

Tidies it up a little. Needs a good clean in there and I need to do something with the battery cover, looks a bit messy as it is.

Can't wait to get the steering wheel fitted. I've just got a sub, and 2 speakers to mount somewhere. So that's me started on the way to a sound upgrade. This spending money malarkey is never ending :(

New gear knob fitted, and I treated her to a wash yesterday and added the forum sticker... I was rushing and put in on wrong but I'm starting to like it that way round.

The eagle eyed among you will notice that it's a 6 speed knob. I only a five speed box though, I'm hoping that sometime in the not too distant future a 6-speed box will be fitted.

Picked up these tonight, can't wait to fit them, need to find some suitable audio upgrades for the cab area too.

Looking good, buddy. Where are you going to mount the speakers in the rear?

Thanks pal. I haven't really decided yet, originally I was going to mount them in the panels above the arches but I've changed my mind. I'm not sure whether to put them at the front of the arches and incorporate them into part of an arch box, or a slightly more ambitious idea I've had is to build a little unit in place of the bulk head with speakers+sub in the middle and use it as part of a framework for a bike rack at either side that would also double as framework for a bed.

Don't know if that makes sense as it's written, but the in vision in my head it makes sense. Though I'm just not quite sure how I'd make it all fit together, I'll probably go with the arches idea, simple is always best.

Hi,

What's the engine cover from? I have looked at loads, and never found a secondhand one to fit a BMM Engine.

Cheers Trev.

Ps do you want a touran dash to finish the cab off?

Is BMM the same as a BLS? That's what mine is, a BLS engine cover, handily from a vw, I got it from the German ebay - that is probably your best bet, but don't forget that skoda ones will fit as well.

Not sure if I wan't to fit a touran dash or not, haven't made my mind up, if I found one or was offered one dirt cheap, and I mean dirt cheap (hint hint) then I'd probably consider it :D

These arrived on my doorstep today, thanks Josh. Extremely good nick considering they are 8 years old. Infact, aside from 1 stone chip and a bit of mould on the indicators which is easily cleaned, they are in fantastic condition. I was hoping they would be an identical blue to mine, sadly not, they are a little bit lighter, they'll do for the moment, don't know if I'll get them resprayed straight away, it's close enough to match for now. I'm not entering any shows so it's not essential.

Looks like I'll finally have to take a trip down to RAD, and get some rail covers bought and fitted while I'm at it.

Fitted my dark interior plastics, next on the list is to get the steering wheel and cruise control fitted. And an armrest which will complete the front half of the interior for the time being, I sort of like the lighter plastics on the upper half, gives it a two tone feeling.

Image

Apologies for the crap picture, did it on my phone in a bit of a rush as it was starting to get dark.

Just in the process of buying my first house so progress on this might end up even slower than it already is, I hope not though, currently selling all my paintball gear which will hopefully generate enough cash for me to take my van to RAD and have everything sorted at once. I asked the body shop next door to where I work for a price but they "keep forgetting" I'm not sure how when they walk past my van everyday. But hey ho, if they don't want my business, RAD certainly will.

Finally met up with doc and got my wheel fitted, also fitted a new headlight switch... Not the real deal but at £6 I can hardly complain...

Also got an armrest/centre console and dark handbrake cover on the way. Will need to order one of those silver handbrake buttons as well just to finish it off.

Need to give the inside a good clean, just a nightmare to keep on top of as the yard at work is always so muddy and dusty. The only thing stopping me getting carpets for the footwells.

So much left to do, just finding the time and money to do it all.
