Re: Caddy -09 - Audio Upgrade Project
When I mounted my adapter rings I first ran a thick bead of silicone and allowed it to fully cure then bolted the adapters to the door with clearance holes drilled through the mdf. This acts as a gasket to stop vibration traveling into the door. I didn't try the speakers without it first so difficult to say how effective it is but I don't get a lot of rattle from the the doors. I do have a lot of sound proofing on them too.

Re: Caddy -09 - Audio Upgrade Project
I havn't add any sound proof on the doors. Bolted my MDF with 8pc M6 bolts and very tight fit.

Re: Caddy -09 - Audio Upgrade Project
Could you fit 3 mdf or ply rings behind the card to get a tight fit? I was told this has amazing results on the mk4 golf. The only problem being that you lose the standard look, as the idea is to then screw your speaker and included grill, onto the outside of your door card into the rings behind. This gives you a mega sealed tunnel travelling straight into the sealed door void. Hopefully keeping sound from rattling around in behind your door card.

This is how I did. Quoted from first page.
Tegheim wrote:Now I'm finished so far. All interior is back. Just some easy hours to make the speakers adapt. Then I will see if I get a subwoofer also.
I mounted the tweeters down in the stock hole. It turned out really good with the windscreen as a mirror.
Then I got to change the adapters a bit.
And this is how my MDF-adpaters were made to fit my Magnat-kit.
Also a bad picture of the headunit in standby with my Rotary-Engine-Picture from SolidWorks captured.

Re: Caddy -09 - Audio Upgrade Project
This was recommended to me by a company a few years ago when i was looking at a Leon install as they had done it in mk4 golfs and apparently had amazing results (doors are very similar). However the angle of the Leon speaker prevented me from doing it. I was just wondering if it could be done in the caddy.
How close are your speakers to the door card where they sit at the moment? Room for another ring, and the doorcard still able to go back on you think?

Re: Caddy -09 - Audio Upgrade Project
The speaker fits tighter than OEM. And there is no room at all. If I do it higher, the doorskin won't fit. This is how far you can go without change stock look or modify rhe inside of the skin.
It's mostly the glove compartment in the door that vibrates.
Will try to measure my dB futher on to se how high I can go without bad sounding interior.

Ok ta.
You must be getting some good output to be making the glove compartment rattle!
I cant wait to get a caddy and get stuck in. I've had a stock system for nearly 3 years now. Never too old for loud music though, so the caddy is getting some treatment, if i ever find one

[quote="Tegheim"]I don't want a Ignition Live, but a Radio-power as OEM. So when you switch of the key the unit runs until you pick the key out.[/quote
Did you ever find this elusive wire/relay with 12v until you remove the key?............I have been searching this problem for a month or two.

Is it not like the other vags? You need a canbus adapter, or something like that? Or are you trying to get away from spending the silly money that they charge for them? :-)

I bought the canbus adapter was worth every penny as it also lets me use steering controls and gives the reverse signal for the camera just plug and play messing.

Re: Caddy -09 - Audio Upgrade Project
Search for CTSVW002.2 on Amazon, I got mine there a few weeks ago, £35 including delivery. Plugs straight into the VW look and bingo, and aftermarket Alpine headunit that switches on with the key, and off when it's removed, just like stock.
