New Caddy MFSW retrofit -not all buttons work
Hi everyone,
Just picked my 14 reg Caddy yesterday, after few hours cleaning decided to fit some
extras I gathered over the period it was being built
One was MFSW.
Me and my pal got it fitted ok but not all buttons work. The ones that dont are menu buttons (left/right ) on the right and voice button on left side.
Did anyone come across this? Perhaps someone could post their VCDS scan for the steering wheel?
It seems new Caddys are given Caddy clocks not Touran like I originally thought as mine have 2K0 part number. I upgraded my VCDS to latest beta version and we could see the long coding bytes ok, my old VCDS would see bytes but not list description for options within.
My BT module is 7P6 one so I imagine it should support voice dialling.
Also there is no faults in any modules.
Any info or ideas would be highly appreciated
Stan

Re: New Caddy MFSW retrofit -not all buttons work
Do you have a highline instrument cluster?
If not, the right hand L&R buttons won't do anything.
Is the SWCM coded for MFSW with PTT?
Can you post an autoscan?

Re: New Caddy MFSW retrofit -not all buttons work
Yes Doc,
My caddy is trendline with BT from factory, MFD menu and all that works with stalk and all MFSW buttons work too apart from voice activation on left side button panel and I can't scroll through menu using left/right buttons on right side button panel.
Looks like the slip ring sees buttons but clocks not for some reason.
Checked in ETKA and there is only two type of clocks per each fuel type available for 2014 Caddy- one without multi function display and with multi function display.
My clocks are 2K0 920 876 F (km/h).
I will do the scan now and post.

Re: New Caddy MFSW retrofit -not all buttons work
Your cluster will need to be programmed for MFSW.
Don't think VCDS can do that.
You'll need to remove the trip stalk if you do get it programmed as it'll revert to stalk only if you touch the trip buttons.

Re: New Caddy MFSW retrofit -not all buttons work
Hmm, never heard of that to be honest but will maybe ring the dealers on
Monday and ask them.
Its strange as the stalk is fully functional + ok button and up/down ones on MFSW work too.
You think the stalk could be in the way?
Also wonder what's the story with voice control not working
Thank you Doc!

Re: New Caddy MFSW retrofit -not all buttons work
No idea on the voice control but I know the L&R buttons will not work if cluster is coded for trip stalk. Had mine revert to stalk control after trying it in another van.

Spoko spacewalker , here it is:

Thanks lads, hopefully we will find a solution as Im sure there might be people in the future who will come across same thing.

Re: New Caddy MFSW retrofit -not all buttons work
Some good news,
We managed to get the menu buttons working yesterday.
In steering wheel module, the "board computer controlled by wiper stalk" was selected so we unticked that and we let the car power down and voila!
Works perfect!
Now we just need to get voice control going...

I'm in the same position as yourself - no voice activation, but it isn't the end of the world. The dealers are bloody clueless and bleat on about warranty invalidities by retro fitting stuff.
I'd just ignore them - unless you've found the much sort and rumoured 'good' VW commercial dealer?

Re: New Caddy MFSW retrofit -not all buttons work
I think it could be the module not supporting it.
Found few others with different cars having same issue with this M revision.
Unless we find someone successfully using it, or I might just swap modules with mk6 one that works to test it.
Very annoying haha

I know this is an old thread, but maybe if some one else finds it and want to activate voice control this might be a link to the solution:
