Hello. I am also going to fit R32 seats and was looking at Touran bases. I don't care about the seating height so I was wondering if you could explain a bit more about these washers. I know the lugs have to be ground off the rails but thought I have to mod the Caddy bases. If I don't have to....I'm all ears (eyes).

The seats won't line up with the back bolt holes, vhowever you'll notice that there is a hole in the seat rail that lines up with the big hole in the base. You use the standard seat bolt, a nyloc nut and make up a washer out of flat steel, with a 10mm hole drilled. It had to be big enough to cover the hole. I'll try and find my photos soon.

The sound deadening is bit pricier than the pingjing stuff, but the insulation looks decent value compared to what I've been able to find thus far.

What are my chances.

May have a chance to finally go Caddy owning, still a lot of boxes to tick but selling business with Falcon ute and having my own Caddy after all these years.
This is only a dream but would I be better buying a Maxi van with full windows and fitting second row of seats or buying a people mover and selling 3rd row?
My preferences so far are
2012 >
1.9 Diesel
DSG
Maxi

A few points to consider:
Most maxi vans are sold to tradies who don't want people looking at their tools so finding a maxi van with full window pack would be very hard.

Fitting rear seats would required sourcing parts, cutting and welding the rear floor, fitting the rails and seats, fitting belts and various other fixtures.

You would also have to get a compliance certificate depending on which state you are in. Sure you could drive it without compliance but say goodbye to your insurance should you need to make a claim.

The Caddy life people movers are pretty expensive

2012 is 1.6 or 2.0 Diesel not 1.9

Thank you. That seems to make sense to me. I'll take the passenger seat out over the week-end and have a good look at it. Worse case scenario is Touran bases which at least give me the right seat height.

Nah, you won't have a problem. I run my seat pretty close to the bottom on Caddy bases anyway. The only thing that's sucks is that huge A pillar and mirror does block your view a little.

Out of left field but has anyone done research into importing a custom built up Caddy into Aus.

Looking at prices on facebook 5500 - 9000 pounds that works out under $AU18,000 for a kitted out Caddy with Touran front end and CL wheels etc etc.
What would freight and duties be??

You would have to pay gst at the full new car rate, unless you'd owned the car in the UK for a couple of years. On top of that there are shipping, importation, and custom charges. You would have to have it certified by an engineer but that wouldn't be difficult as Caddys have already passed all the required standard for Australian import.

Then normal RWC and rego costs....

I looked into this a few years ago. It's not very economical. Things may be different now that the importation rules are changing as we no longer have a car industry in Australia.

G'day Aussie Caddy owners, I'm from Maroochydore in Queensland. I was hoping I would have found myself a caddy before I posted on here but I haven't found the perfect caddy yet. I'm looking for SWB or a maxi, with a 1.9l diesel with less than 100,000km for around $14000. Found a really good one but just before I was to hand the money over I discovered it was on the written off register. Alway spend the $37 and do a full history check before purchasing a used car.

Fellow aussie here. Just ordered a MY17.5 SA Caddy Maxi Crewvan with lifttail and reversecam as only options.
Im looking to change wheels and maybe line the interior for protection from loads and would be great if anyone could give recommendations for either.

Does anybody know of company on Brisbane Southside (Logan) capable of lowering a current model Caddy Maxi Comfortline?
Mine should finally arrive in Brisbane early October (was ordered in May but had to wait for 2018 badged model) and I need to get it lowered immediately for ease of entry of disabled wife.
Yes I know of the Darkside Kits for the rear available from the UK but am hoping for something from AUS and can use local GOLF front shocks

I see the annual "Day of Volkswagen" is on this Sunday, 19 Nov. at Yarra Glen, just east of Melbourne.
I'm looking forward to going down and seeing amazing restorations,some rare and exotic vehicles, and hopefully a Caddy or two, or more.
Maybe even be able to get some bits and pieces for my Maxi - stuff I didn't know existed, but having seen it can't live without it!
