If I knew a way of disabling it permanently with VCDS I would.

Being ex vag the reason this does this is because the wheel speed sensor is linked to the ecu and detects your braking and below a certain speed it sends a message to say " were stopping " so shuts the engine down. Pain in the arse I know all my dsg cars I had as company cars did this.

OP knows there is a button - he wants to turn it off permanently.

Is it possible to disable the stop start function ? I know there is a button to turn it off in the cab for a short while.

I agree it’s a real pain. Been in a few close calls due to starting and then cutting straight out and saying “start engine manually”
Not noticed mine cutting engine before I stop
I did it on my mk7 golf gti last year using OBD Eleven. There was a video online r that show you how to do it. Should be similar on the caddy?
I'm sure you could get the same results with vcds
I just got used to disabling it every time in the old caddy. The new one is exactly the same, it will cut the engine as you coast to a stop. To disable it in that, you swipe down on the screen and then press the disable start stop icon on the screen.

Did you see the link to the other video where the guy just disconnects the start stop plug from the battery? No need for vagcom and quickly reversible. No idea how sensible that is though!
I have a box fitted to another car that is like the thing mark1a linked to that remembers settings so I don't have to press buttons every time I start the car. Works well and again, completely reversible.
