Hudson’s Caddy: My first Van

Post by Hudson97 »

Hi guys. I’m Shaun, 21y/o and I’ve been on the forum for a while now so I thought I’d start my own build thread. It’s an ongoing process but Rome wasn’t built in a day!

So in Feb 2018 I sold my first car and decided I wanted a caddy. Glad I made that decision but my bank account isn’t. The garage I got it from put the alloys on for me and off I drove, thinking it was done. How wrong I was!

I’ve gradually added mods to it but now I’m beginning to get more ideas, inspiration and help from people on here, I can see it going somewhere. So, I’ll keep updating this thread with what I’ve done so far and what’s in the pipeline. Looking forward to meeting some of you at shows/meets etc in the future. Here’s a picture of when I bought the van last year

So, my first couple of mods included adding a front splitter and a rear bumper protector, both from eBay and I did these within the first week of picking the van up. I’d also fitted the Heko wind deflectors.

A few weeks later and I’d added some black sidebars from Vanstyle. All simple mods and I was happy with how they looked.

By this point my list of things to do was getting bigger but I knew it was going to take time. Around June time and my Vanstyle spoiler was on. I also got my side rail cover on and got my rear windows tinted by a guy local to me, so the ball was rolling. But, I needed some lows asap

This takes me up to August, where I had a nice drive out to go and pick up some Audi A3 S Line seats. I’d seen some on the forum and liked the look of them so when some became available I went to get them. Fitted on touran bases they were much comfier than the original caddy seats.

In the future I will look at changing these seats, possibly for heated ones or even full leather.

September saw me turn 21, and I was lucky enough to get a new head unit which I posted some info about on the forum previously, and some private plates. Image

Then in October the day I’d been waiting for finally came. I had a drive down to Darkside developments to get my ST X Coilover Kit fitted. It’s not on the lowest setting but I’ve found these to be really good value for money.

On the way up home I also stopped off at Wolfsburg Vans to get a remap, going from 75bhp to roughly 145bh which has been spot on. Finally I had a bit of power! Image

Looking good mate, Nice van and a nice selection of mods so far!

Have you got any photos of the seats fitted? They look nice.

Recently I added some LED sequential side repeaters which are really cool, found by Caddyluv so thanks for that mate.

The I drove down to meet Doc, who fitted and coded my tinted rear lights. Top bloke and top job, they make the rear of the van look so much better. Before I met him I had debadged the back.

In the same day I drove to pick up a new front bumper from Kris 2kcaddy on Instagram. I’ve not got it fitted yet because it’s at the paint shop, but I’m hoping it won’t be long now.

So that’s where I’m up to at the minute. I’ve got other mods to do which are on the waiting list:
Edition 30 side mouldings
LED side bars
New 19” wheels
Carpet/insulate/sound proof rear
Caddy life mirror conversion
Electric window conversion
Steering wheel conversion
Also looking into a new rear bumper. Here’s a few photos of the van now
