Pure grey OEM+

Post by Korky »

Good morning, I thought I would start this thread to document and changes and modifications I do to the caddy, the idea is that it doesn’t get out of hand, I want to stay in the realms of the OEM+ style range.

After a bit of searching, and nearly buying a Kangoo, I picked up this trend line pure grey dab caddy from Sheffield, it’s a 2.0 tdi that is fairly clean, and even managed 60mpg on the way back.

Image

After getting home that evening, I had a pack of garage floor protectors ready to go in the back

Image

As you can see from the picture above, the passenger side bulkhead was missing, I quickly sourced one locally from eBay and replaced that to keep the road noise down.

I ordered a genuine vcds cable as soon as I bought the caddy and started playing around. So far I have enabled dash sweep, window rise on key, rear led number plate lamps, anti highjack and the digital mph on the cluster, removing the kmph.

I ordered some sound deadening and started on the rear, this is where I am up to.

Image

The rear carpet has arrived, once I finish the sound reading, I will get onto this.

Does anyone have the panel templates they could send me? I would like to ply line the windows locations first.

I ordered a set of hr lowering springs and the dark side development rear shackle kit.

Image

And fitted it along with a set of golf r Pretoria 19x8.5 et45 with 235/35/19 Goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 3 tyres.

I am quite pleased with the result so far

Ideally I would like the front springs to settle around 10mm but I’m not sure this will happen. The rear is set to the 4th adjustment from the top.

As you can see, my plate is on too.

Next up, some seats and MFSW, see what else I can do with vcds. Rear camera, apply car play and then onto the outside again; painted grills and splitter along with rear wiper delete and side door roller cover.

Thanks for reading.
Kirk

That’s a good start and you’ve picked up a nice van.

I recognise that plate, where you from?

I’m from Middlesbrough mate, it was on my liquid yellow Megane previously. Where are you based?

Tyres are around £120 from black circles / tyre leader etc, just google search the size and a few different prices will come up, there is then fitting on top.

Wheels you can get for around £500 or between £1-2k for genuine on eBay

Just to confirm, LED numberplate bulbs for the mk4 can be found here: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2562026066

Then use vcds and tell it you are using led rear bulbs in central electrics

Got round to doing some trimming in the rear over the weekend
Image

Image

I just need to get some black push clips to change out the grey ones on the roof lining.

And picked the spoiler up from the painters, fitted that last night
Image

Steering wheel should be hear next week.

Then I need to find out about the RLS for the mk4 as I can’t see anyone on here who has done the retro fit

Caddy in the main dealers this week for the following lot work:

Cambelt, tensioner, water pump, coolant, quantum mixing water, aux belt, aux tensioner, flywheel, clutch assembly with release bearing, air filter, oil filter, diesel filter, pollen filter, oil, sump plug.

Then app connect, voice control which led to the change of the usb connector (details in “app connect thread”)

Then I ordered the bonnet sound insulation, caddy 4 part number 2K0863831A

And engine cover for the 2.0 TDI engine
Part number 04L103925
With oil cap ring 04L133287
And 2 x ball head mounts 04L103164
