Work - only on some

If it has no buttons you'll be fine.
You will need the mk5 airbag to fit the wheel

Will the early caddy airbag fit the gti wheel?

Yes, the Caddy 2006-2010 uses the same airbag as the mk5 GTI.

Thanks, I’ve just ordered a gti wheel off eBay with a deployed bag so I’ll fit mine. I’m assuming the wheel is a straight swap.

Apologies for digging up an old post.
I have been offered a good flat bottom mk5 GTI non MFSW and just wondered did the horn work oproperly and airbag connect directly to the facelift Caddy. Mine is 2012.
