1 week in.... mods so far

Post by c_j »

Hi all, so I picked it up last weekend looking like this
Image
Image

Got to work straight away and stripped out
Image

Sound matted, sides floor and roof. God that was a boring job!
Image

Then insulated.
Image

Then I moved onto carpeting.
ImageImageImage

Next was LED Drl’s and head lights
ImageImage

Also added rubber floor mat, racking and some secure tool storage
Image

Led strip lighting for the roof and made a wireless charging mat for the slot bellow the head unit
ImageImage

Final addition are some new wheels
And that takes me upto this weekend, quite please with what I’ve got done last week
Image

Let me know your thoughts and ideas. I’ve got more ideas in the pipeline

Thanks Gjseb

I got a std wireless chargers from amazon like this
Image
And then just took it apart and mounted the internals to the underside of the tray under the head unit.
Once id made that part I just got the power via a 12v USB adapter like this and connected under the tray as there is a large void.

Thanks skully, ye I tried a few different styles but kept coming back to these. I think they suit the silver really well.

love your attention to detail on the load area, it looks better than the boot of some cars.

Did you notice a difference to road noise etc after the insulation or was it more just to keep heat in?

Cheers

Hi Shane, I’m hoping it gives the benefit of keeping the warmth in in the winter and help keep it cooler in the summer but predominantly for noice reduction.
I can’t comment purely on the insulation as I did the dodo matting and the insulation at the same time but can say the pair together made a brilliant improvement to the road noice and drumming noice that come from the rear. Very quiet after.
Cheers cj

Looking good mate. Have you powered the new led roof lights from the original centre light, or run a separate supply?

Cheers Alfie, set up using the original
Supply to start with including using a switch too. Have since run a separate supply’s both permanent live and switched live for other things like dash cams, usb chargers etc

Sweet cheers for that. Mine has been ply lined but don't think there is anything behind it so looking to put some sound deadening and insulation behind the ply wood.

Hi,
Looking good
Are the new headlights the std. Caddy Xenon units with LEDs ?
Have you got some more details on what you had to do fitting and parts/coding wise ...
Cheers,
Pete

Hi petrev

Yes it’s the standard head light units

I just ordered a set of h4 led’s that are can-bus compatible.
They go in just like replacing a bulb with no codeing necessary
