Exhaust note

Post by S3_Oj »

So I’m just wondering why my caddy has 2 sounding exhaust notes
It’s a 2013 1.6tdi and has been remapped with a cat back straight pipe exhaust.

The van drives and sounds fine to me not loud at all and I use the van every day so on a run it never changes but when I’m local and it’s really hot stuck in traffic stop start etc the van sounds like it’s got no exhaust at all (tractor) really deep.

With the weather been so warm lately ie today that’s when I’ve noticed it and it’s seams to be when the fans kick in it sounds totally different.

It is just me or has anyone else noticed any sound changes
Thanks in advance
James

Mine was a similar setup exhaust wise, same engine as yours, and my exhaust note used to change to a deeper note when the egr or dpf was doing its regeneration thing? I've since deleted them and it's louder all time.

I was gonna ask if your RPM was raised a bit when it sounds louder, thinking it's just a DPF regeneration.

Cheers gents and thinking about it now I have had the revs stay about 1000rpm every now and again but I’ve never noticed it becoming louder.
Would you recommend getting them deleted or just the 1 ?
Thanks again

I’ve noticed that with mine recently especially when it’s hot I even checked the back box to see if it had blown. So I assume it’s perfectly normal

Mine does exactly the same thing. 1.6 - no remap tho’ and just a back box delete.

As Doc says it will most likely be in regeneration mode.
