Revo remap 2.0 tdi

Post by the67al »

Hi, I have a 2.0 tdi 140 and looking into remapping, I have a revo tuner not far from me and a tuner who uses celtic software, mine has had the e189 software fix but i feel the engine could be improved, so would look to get this rolled back, so anyone out recommend the revo on the 2.0 tdi only, thanks

My van is a 1.6 running their 140hp software and its transformed my van, Revo are one of the best out there and their service and knowledge is spot on. Plus if the dealer is local keep the business local :D

Thanks for reply, maybe there's not many 2.0 owners with remaps out there?

I've got the mk4 2.0ltr 102bhp engine. Just had mine remapped (not revo, but by a local tuner). The difference is unbelievable, It's now around the 180bhp mark. Pulls away great.

That's a big leap from 102 to 180! Do you need to upgrade other parts to compensate? Also, does the increase in power need notifying to your insurance??

I have Revo Stage 1 on my Caddy (2017 2.0 CR TDI).
No other mods were done or needed.
Everything is stock motor wise.

I got my 2.0 remapped to 180 and the e189 update removed a couple of months ago. It's certainly noticable, put it that way. Full bore in 1st or 2nd is useless. 1st is out in no time, 2nd judders and wheel spins as the powerband peaks. Could be a combination of the big floppy tires on 16" rims, and 'van ratio' gearbox, but makes quick launches...well, I don't do it because it feels like too much stress on everything - gearbox and the rest - for not a lot of go.

That said, 3rd and on it pulls like a train. Much better on the motorway too.

I noticed my average mpg jump from struggling to keep 45mpg to easilly 48. A mate recommended I start using v-power diesel, and that's seen mpg rocket, average is closer to 55 if I'm careful. Managed 64mpg once on a drive to work, where I used to see ~45 with a handfull of throttle stabs.

Absolutely recommended.

Sorry to butt in on your post hope you don't mind. I have a 2.0 140 as well which is a 2015 plate. I was wondering what is the e189 update and will I have this done on mine since it has FMDSH?

It changes the engine management after the emissions scandal.

Almost certainly done if you've been getting main dealer services. Can check with VW here;

Does the remap reduce longevity of the engine? Also never understood how you get more mpg from getting more power out of the van lol I appreciate if you drive it hard you won’t but surprised it’s not best mpg from factory

AFAIK the 2.0 lump is used by Skoda in something (can't remember the model), and it comes out of their factory closer to 180bhp. The engine will be fine, but it's extra stress on the gearbox (don't know what that's rated for), drive shaft, differentials maybe? I'm not too sure. That's why I take it easier in 1st and 2nd.

Ah that’s interesting!

I’ll have a further look into the gearbox then, thanks!
