True but to be fair, cycling in Italy is a whole different thing. I took my bike up the Stelvio Pass from Bormio - cars leave a wide berth and drivers lean out and shout “Bravo, forza!” whereas back home I get “buy a car and pay road tax you f**king loser!” while in my head I’m saying “I have 2 cars and a van, and the VAT alone paid on my bikes is more than your car is worth” - obviously I keep it shut though.

Got the Caddy back today post-remap. I'm really pleased with it. Noticeably quicker, and much smoother through the gears. Biggest improvement has to be mid-range torque at around 3500rpm, it was hardly sluggish before but much better now. I'll have a better idea in a week or so as to what this has done to the fuel economy.

It’s worth waiting for. Hope Hef-fest goes OK, I’d love to have been there myself but unavoidably elsewhere this weekend.

Lovely looking caddy and this is very similar to what I am hoping to achieve. Do you mind if I send you a PM on how you set this up for your bike?

Thanks but don't think I can send PM's.

Can you have the bike in the caddy with the seats upright? I dont mind taking the front wheel off but Iwould rather not have too remove the kids car seats all the time. I have no garage so I am really looking to keep my bike in the caddy permanently, and also be able to take the kids out in it. Is it possible?

Thanks in advance, there aren't any maxis close to me or I would go and have a look.

@stepmeek

OK, it depends what bikes and how many really, plus also how many rear passengers.

The Maxi Life rear seats are arranged as 2+1, and can either together or individually (2+1), fold down, fold forward, or be removed completely.

For my 29er MTB, transport with seats in is not really possible, for that I remove all seats and have it in with both wheels on, and front wheel in this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07 ... le_o03_s00 bike strapped down to the ringbolts in the floor.

For my road bikes and/or gravel bike, these can be transported either with front wheel off and a single rear seat folded. You could then take one bike and two rear passengers or two bikes and one rear passenger. I use this for road & gravel bikes:
http://www.minoura.jp/english/transport ... o-tf2.html, no need to strap them down, the bikes are light enough not to move around. It's for 9mm QR as standard, I have thru-axle adapter for the gravel bike.

The only way I can take road bike(s) with all of the rear seats in use is by using the above Minoura base, and then remove the rear wheel and use the optional rear end support http://www.minoura.jp/english/transport ... port3.html, this keeps the rear mech and chain out of harms way, but obviously not as quick & easy as just removing the front wheel and dropping into a fork mount. At a push, and depending on the bike size (mine are 56cm / L frame size), you might be able to have all rear seats up, rear wheel on, and bike diagonally across the back, but it would be tight.

All in all, it works for me and have managed to go on all the bike trips I have needed to with multiple bikes, and still using the Caddy as a daily drive for work and a family wagon. Obviously the safer option for a permanent bike wagon would be something like a Transporter (either with seats & glass fitted or Kombi or Caravelle), I looked at all of these, but ultimately as much as I like Transporters I needed a daily that drove like a car and had no issues with height barriers, so Caddy was the choice for me and haven't looked back.

Hope this helps...

That's brilliant, thanks for the reply.

I will only ever be carrying one road bike at a time, and if I can get it in by folding down one rear seat then that's ideal. I shall look into getting the front fork mount when I choose a caddy 😀

Thanks again for your help.
