Passat W8 Interior light copy?

Has anyone got any experience with the 'Aliexpress' copy of the W8 light? Only reason I ask is that are half the price of the genuine unit from TPS. I have no problem spending the extra cash if there is a significant improvement in quality, fit and function but if there is no difference it means I can spend more on other Caddy goodies!

Plus I will be painting the unit dark grey anyway so i don't mind that the copy comes in the sandy brown colour.

I bought one last year. No problems, good quality. Well worth it.

Did it work with just the standard adaptor loom that is in the 'How to' section?

I made up my own loom as per info in other posts, but the connector on the light fitting is standard.

I went with this rather cheaper interior light upgrade from eBay UK for £32.

It looks like a simpler alternative to the aliexpress version retailing at almost twice the price

However this is being supplied from UK stock - so it really was next day delivery.

No adapters needed - just remove old interior light - plug in the LED bulbs to the new fitting. (For some reason it already had conventional bulbs installed so you also end up with a heap of spare bulbs).

Fit existing VW power cord and sure enough it worked. - Well 2nd time around as I fitted one LED bulb back to front - but they worked perfectly once installed the right way around. So test all the bulbs work before you refit to the roof. Much brighter than the old light and a nice clean white. A good cheap upgrade.

That's just a standard VW golf/polo/Jetta/transporter etc interior light which you can pick up for a few quid, then add some led bulbs for another couple of quid. The Passat W8 light has ambient red led's to match all the other red lights around the cabin. That was the main attraction for me.

I’ve been searching for a while in the breakers but all the ones I’ve found where in poor condition, that’s why I ordered this.

I ordered mine on the 24th Dec and it arrived yesterday!. Got it fitted and its spot on. Good fit and perfect function. Just need to see if it lasts!

Yes, it is an exact copy of the Passat W8 with the two ambient red lights. Bargain for £20 delivered
