Yes. Have a look through this for what you need to do when switching BCMs.

Hi hef, thanks for this information, just a quick question if we use a second hand bcm I’m assuming it won’t be in factory mode , do you have to do some sort of zeroing before a re code do you now , thanks again

Hi mate, yes as anoneamus points out further up this thread you have to make a note of the current long coding on your standard bcm before you remove it.
Then fit the upgraded bcm to your van and input the original long coding you made a note of from original bcm.
Just follow the steps in anoneamus’s thread and you cant go wrong my friend.
Not that difficult a process if you are fairly familiar with VCDS buddy

Re: Bcm ‘s
No, there's no way to get it back into factory mode once it's out. So, if it's ever been used, it won't be in factory mode. Reading your coding from existing BCM and writing it into the new BCM is the equivalent of reinitialising it. If the replacement BCM has had EEPROM mods done to it (eg. removing reverse light warning for new style tail lights), you'll have to read the EEPROM config from your old one using VCP and write it to the new one. In terms of adaptations, I don't know if there's a way to reset all adaptations to factory (if so, it will be in VCDS), and I'm pretty sure there's no way to read them from one BCM to another, so you may need to go through any that have been potentially changed and set them to whatever you want.

You have to use some special tools to read 24c64 eeprom from dashboard by obd or remove dashboard and read eeprom by programmer.
Then i can help with needle sweep
