Dilemma on black roof

Post by B198omb »

Picked up my caddy yesterday and cant wait to get the balls rolling on getting it up to scratch. As a painter in the trade the body side of it isn't an issue but will need lots of help and info for interior mods and mech mods.
The van has been repaired before so I'll be fixing this, once my ocd kicks in I'll no doubt end up respraying it  . My first dilemma is the colour of the roof. The van is grey met but thinking of putting roof black along with the main grill, bumper grills and splitter.
What's the thoughts?

I'm not a fan of black roofs, especially in the summer in a van it gets very hot.

I like that black roof thing actually. Along with the other bits you’ve mentioned. That’ll look really smart I think...........I remember summer 2018 in Scotland, it was on a Wednesday.....must’ve hit 20 degrees for a whole 15 mins
You may not get the weather, but you’ve sure got the scenery

Well I guess summer in Scotland is not too dissimilar to summers in North Wales but the scenery does help indeed!

I’ve wrapped my roof in black buddy and my van is grey, but pure grey as opposed to metallic natural grey. I love the black roof look on grey and summer days aren’t a problem if you have a/c but if not, I suspect it could get pretty warm in there.

Anyhow, here are a couple of pics that might help of my roofImageImageImage

Summer temperatures sometimes hit above 45 Degrees C here, and the black roof does not help much.
But Dynamat on the inside of the whole roof works, and the aircon works brilliantly, so I am not phased by the extra heat:
