Bonnet sound proofing

Post by Vwjack88 »

For my 06 caddy I got the bonnet sound proofing/insulating pad thing, similar to the one in the photo (that's not a caddy one) Was wandering if you can get them for a 13 plate? Took the one off my 06 to see if it fits but different shape as bonnets different.
Thanks In advance Image

Yes you can get them of a Touran. Part No is 1T0863831G. There are also cheaper aftermarket ones available if you search on ebay.

I was not on about the cut and stick yourself insulation as an aftermarket solution, there are manufactures that do the replica under bonnet insulation covers like the VW one.

Oh right, brilliant. Any idea where could get one from, I've messaged a few people breaking tourans, but the only stuff I see on ebay is that stuff.

Hi there, recently bought a MK4 caddy, am looking at getting engine under tray, engine cover and bonnet insulation. Struggling with part numbers and don’t wanna buy then have to send back if wrong. I know this is prob very boring and common but I joined this today so be nice 😜

Could you not just pop into a VW van centre parts dept and get them to order it based off your reg, that way you know its the right part.

Good luck with this, i get fed up of hearing "unless your van came with it, it harder to find the parts", dont get me wrong my local van centre is generally quite good, but iv found its a lot easier just givin em a part no., if it a part im lookin to retro fit.

Found one company in uk that sells them - Winparts.co.uk. Its a Van Wezel one, almost identical to the VW oem one but less than half the price at £33.79..
Please note that this is for the Mk 3 Caddy only. The winparts product number to type in there search box is 1017700.
Hope this helps other forum members looking for a cheaper alternative to the VW oem bonnet insulation.
