Thanks fella. Mods are going to have to stop for a while after this. Need to get the bathroom and cavity wall ties done. If I don’t, and the house falls down, I’ll convert to a camper and live in that

Swan’s caddy build

Post by the swan fiend »

I managed to get a few hours to get the front doors soundproofed today. Silent coat and 12mm super liner. I’ve also changed my levers to the alloy ones and fitted my door lights. Like an idiot, I broke the electric widow switch on the passenger side Image
New one ordered, should be here Wednesday. Once I’ve got that, I’ll put the door back together.

You are doing a fantastic job there peter.👍
How hard was it to get the window motor and housing off as when I undid the bolts around the outside it wouldn’t come away.

Cheers mate. I cheated. I just pulled the aluminium panel away from the door and got my hand behind it to get the stuff in. I never touched the motor. The white clips that were connected to the outer door handles were a pain though. I think I broke them both but there seems to be no Issue with anything.

I managed to repair my electric window switch and got the door card refitted this morning. I’ve also soundproofed the near side sliding door. Next job is the cab roof and dash cam install Image

Not the biggest mod I’ve done. But a subtle touch.

Well after soundproofing the doors. I noticed last night the interior light was on very dim when driving. Then I noticed the van isn’t seeing the drivers door as open. After a fiddle, the interior light is now off but no joy with the van seeing the door open.
I’m bloody annoyed at myself.

Maybe you accidentally damaged the joints or something, similar to this case?

Thanks mate I bought them from another forum member. They’re genuine bits though, so you should be able to get them from TPS. I think they’re originally from a Touran. Straight fit though

My pollen filter cover arrived today, so I picked it up and fitted it. It’s made the van much quieter. It’s stopped the draught (and noise) coming in the passenger footwell.
It was the chink in my soundproofing armour!!

Swan’s caddy build

Today, I’ve decided to investigate further the issue surrounding my drivers door issue. I removed the door latch and found the micro switch was damaged. I priced a new one, £175 from TPS. So my wife found a tuition video explaining how to strip it down and replace it. I’ve ordered a replacement switch and will fit it when it arrives. I’m feeling all pleased with myself!! Image
