Parasitic leech... Image

Got my new rear headlining finished off and wired in this morning. It’s been an on going mini project with the kids for a few week now ,so good to finally have it in so they can see what they’ve built. We remade the main panel so it meets the B-posts right and then added a small panel in suede with fibre optic star lights. Can’t wait for the arguments about who has the remote for the lights.... Really like that mate, what did you use for the main panel remake board wise as need to redo mine as its got gaps at the B post, and how did you find the star light fitting spoke with couple people now said its a ball ache as they break easily

Hi mate, main panel is done in ply and light panel in MDF. I imagine where they have went wrong is rushing it, as it’s quite time consuming and repetitive. After poking mine through the holes I glued them in place and then also taped them all to the board using foil tape (after glue had gone off). Looks awful but stops any movement.

Like any fibre optic mate if they are kinked or bent too sharp the light transmission is blocked. The holes should be drilled at an angle to reduce the required radius.

Cheers mate, I’m happy with it. Plus it brightens it up a bit in the back for the kids, so they’re not sat in total darkness.

pretty much the same for me, and occasionally I traveled in the boot. Try and get away with that these days. We certainly make it too easy for them now.

Hi mate quick question how have you supported the centre section with the weight of the MDF i presume its bonded to the ply, but am thinking the weight of the middle would cause a drop or sag

@jeffers76 I’ve bonded and screwed the MDF panel to the main ply one. When doing so make sure you stick it to the right side of the ply so the natural spring is working for you and pushing into the roof and not away. The roof has a cross member which has a centre hidden clip which I used and I then also fit two screws through the main panel and into the cross member, to give extra support.

@ripley55 Thankyou very much. Ha ha, there would be no fun in that for you
