Re: Golf mk4 recaro fitted
The Mk4 seats go onto the Caddy seat frames and therefore fit the caddy subframes.

Re: Golf mk4 recaro fitted
All you need is the seats, they fit onto the existing caddy seats and use the existing frames etc,
What you need to do is strip out the caddy seats obviously, then take all the plastic covering off the base`s,
remove the 2 x torx screws on each side where the reclining spindle is. BE CAREFUL YOU DON'T CROSS THREAD THE BOLTS !! as they are screwed in with lock tight, a tap with a hammer and screwdriver to break the lock tight then they should start to turn.
Do the same on the replacement seats then put them back together.
The bulkhead wont let you recline as much as i would like but its not a problem.

Re: Golf mk4 recaro fitted
Ok excellent. I have my seat pretty much all the way back which means I have to have the seat back quite upright anyway so thats not a hugh problem.. as long as the seat backs arent much deeper stopping me getting the seat back far enough and giving me legroom issues.robtaylors wrote:All you need is the seats, they fit onto the existing caddy seats and use the existing frames etc,

Would still be interested to have a quick look if you even have advanced notice of being in cambs?
Is it just mk4 recaros that fit right in then and can you get them in just grey

Re: Golf mk4 recaro fitted
The golf/bora mk4 are a straight fit onto the caddy bases, the recaro`s come in red/blue and grey.
Also the caddy seat bases dont have side lumbar support bars so if you want this you would need to weld them onto the caddy bases

Re: Golf mk4 recaro fitted
I see... so the benefit of changing to the touran consoles is that you could just then fit the whole mk4 seat inc the base with the extra support... without having to butcher them and weld them onto the caddy bases.robtaylors wrote:The golf/bora mk4 are a straight fit onto the caddy bases, the recaro`s come in red/blue and grey.

I like things simple and dont have the skill or equipment to start welding bits.
cheers for all the advice.. I must sound like a right novice (which i am)

depends how far you want to go with it, I didn't want to be spending another 100 quid plus for the consoles.
Plus the never say die attitude to modding ! anything`s possible.....and nothing cant be done..........

Re: Golf mk4 recaro fitted
thats true. I guess it would be an easy job for someone with a welder. Plus if I picked up a free set of stock caddy seats as people seem to be offering from here then i have something to play with while I can still use my vanrobtaylors wrote:depends how far you want to go with it, I didn't want to be spending another 100 quid plus for the consoles.

Will have to keep my eye open for some mk4 seats now. How much were yours out of interest? They look in good condition

Re: Golf mk4 recaro fitted
paid £200 for mine which are heated, but they have been re-trimmed and are like new, you can pick up a set for less than that but would you want shitty old seats !jedi-knight83 wrote: thats true. Re: Golf mk4 recaro fitted
all you need to do is peel of the seat (fabric and foam) from your original seat and unbolt the back (do this first) do the same with the mk4 seats and put mk seats onto caddy bases (not consols) bolt on the back on job done an easy mod that can be done cheap as chips

Re: Golf mk4 recaro fitted
Think I may well just do this mod after reading this too. I loved the seats in my old mk4! The seats in the caddy have given me a bad back
