Non runner caddy

Hi, i’ve a 2008 2.0 Sdi caddy which turns over but will not start, the esp light is on and my code reader will not communicate with the ecu. I’ve checked all the fuses and swapped the relays round, can anyone suggest what to look at?

Check for power and ground connections at the ECU.

Possibly a faulty Ecu,seen this before after driving into floods hopefully it’s not though as said before check all connections to and from the ecu first

Hi Doc,
I’ve seen one of your replies in another thread where you mention the abs unit can cause the engine ecu not to communicate, you also suggest pulling abs fuses. Can this make my engine ecu wake up?

Doubt it, ECU wakes up with a switched 12v supply to it from the CECM/BCM, removing an ABS fuse is unlikely to energise this supply wire.

Did u tried pushstart it?
There is rare times when starter is done it coud draw all electric and not leave enough for starting or something like that.
Did it broke down when driving or just didnt start?

Does fuel pump make any noise when u turn ignition on?did it run low on diesel?

Doc, is it possible to supply a feed bypassing the bsm?
