These are from the same place, they are very helpful, bought the same set as those tinted ones

Rabd cheers buddy and welcome to the forum!

Slowly tweaking it to make it my own and get it ready for some MTB’ing once Nicki says yes

I’ve got a freshly painted Touran bumper, fog lights, new highline CECM and some decent (loud) horns to fit in the next day or so.

The list is never ending

Papa Bear no, just 2, for now! She who must be obeyed mentioned them this evening, now in my amazon basket, only one click away

Bumper cost me £200 to have the colour changed from silver to India blue. I figured it would have cost me at least £150 for filler, paint, lacquer, wet n dry, etc and I know I wouldn’t have made a decent job of it.

I’m hunting for my horns this weekend when we go to my garage.
That’s a good price, need to get both of mine repainted so wondered how much I would roughly be looking at. Don’t have any plans on changing them so just want them to look good.

What a great read! seems you know your stuff, I'm prone to being a ham fisted idiot. I bought a 09 Maxi today almost purely for MTB trips. Is it bad that im planning mods already for a vehicle i have barely driven?

keep up the great work.

RedLion cheers buddy! I’m reasonably handy at diy and engineering, however, it’s been the shared learning on here that’s responsible for my mods and my ever decreasing bank balance

Post up some pictures of your van, get your post count up and post in the “New member, please read all of the first post” thread asking for access to the rest of the forum and you’ll find how to’s for most things.

And if you’re not sure after a search on here then post up and ask, best forum I’ve been a member of for advice and help, oh and a bit of banter

I bought an old builders van with absolutely no intention of doing anything to it or spending any money on it apart from chucking my bike in the back to go biking, however that changed within minutes of buying and coming on here!

Get your ABS sorted (lots of folks on here have VCDS diagnostic tool, worth asking if there’s anyone near you that could scan your van to help diagnose any issues) drive your van for a week or two, see how it drives, how it sounds, get any other mechanical stuff sorted then bash on with making it more comfortable and making it your van!

Enjoy the journey and happy MTB’ing

It seems to have been fairly well maintained and, that is exactly the plan, drive it for a while and see what needs fixing before embarking on the journey.
I should pick it up in the next couple of days so will get some pictures uploaded then, i think the first part of the adventure being to remove all of the signwriting that has been on there for about a million years. sigh.

Wiring loom from Tommyzooom arrived today so time to change the front bumper...

Before

Image

Bumper off, lights off

Image

Refurbished lights (black with dynamic
LED indicators and DRL’s) fitted

Image

Colour coded Touran bumper with fog lights fitted

Image

Fog lights and LED’s to finish wiring up, coding in and testing, however that’s a job for tomorrow!

And even found a little time to do a bit more hydro dipping

Let the build begin

I certainly does, can’t believe the difference to the look of the front end.

Took 2.5 hours start to finish, would have been quicker if I’d :

1. Known that once you remove the 3rd screw up from the bottom in each wheel well you pull the bumper retaining clip back about 20mm to release the bumper (10 mins spent trying to get the sides to clip in)
2. Fitted the grill to the Touran bumper before fitting the bumper to the car (15 mins spent trying to clip the grill in), centre bottom locating pin wasn’t seated properly,
3. Not fitted a new set of horns (20 mins)

So about 1:45 hrs in total.
