Exploring the limits of what a 2WD Caddy can do. Got stuck on a pebble beach, and almost stuck on another road through the dunes. Need to start looking at 4Motion retrofit (although standard height clearance is also an issue).

Spent an hour and a half in the rain removing a ptc heater. Well, when I say removing, I’ve half removed it! Need to go back on Monday with more tools to continue.

Coded in footwell lights to my replacement CECM this morning.
Tested with a homemade test lamp, well chuffed!!
https://youtu.be/wn1vOgRJ53c]On to off ... the door
https://youtu.be/C79XXgnjweI]On to off ... e ignition
Need to head to the scrappy’s next week to pick up a couple of light fittings from a Golf, pop in some red LED’s and get them wired up and installed
CECM was from an EOS, part number 3C8 437 049 E
The differences on plug B (highlighted in orange) were...
Installed a test wire into plug B
Coded the module to my van...
Ran a test, all working as factory, then gave it try, result!!!!
I didn’t change the van to a car in the other CM, left as a van

A great week out! Got bored of quarantining in a flat, so picked up a cheap out of season holiday rental house. Yesterday was mud surfing in the rain on dirt roads. Found the true value of the engine undertray: keeping mud out of the engine bay. Engine was still spotless after intense mud session.

@anoneamus sounds terrific, isn’t it amazing what a difference decent tyres make. I used to run P100 pickup with M&S tyres on the back, pulled a few Land Rovers with road tyres off grass
Keep on exploring

And traction control. It's something that I need to keep adjusting, if you're moving it should be on, if you're standing still or moving slowly it should be off. Very easy to get stuck with traction control on. Had a look at parts list to retrofit 4Motion. Looks like a no.Beaker2135 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 1:33 pm @anoneamus sounds terrific, isn’t it amazing what a difference decent tyres make.
