Not done that much recently, picked up my tools today to continue with the bed though. Tried searching my garage for my air horns but as I’m storing a lot of stuff for the “Men’s shed” I am part of so couldn’t reach them.

Really thinking I need to buy VCDS as cant find anyone local to help. Wondering wether to order 3, 10 or unlimited vin version, would like to have unlimited to be able to help others out but it’s quite a jump in price. May just go for 10 for now.

List wanted on VCDS so far (so I can remember in future)
Cc stalks coded
Drl’s off with handbrake on
Needle sweep
5 flash on indicators
Unloc k All the doors on a signal press of key ring.

Will want a ptc heater coding in but have to find one and fit it first.

Got a ptc heater and all cabling plus the plastic trim that covers it from a scrap yard today.
More to fit and more that will need coding .
Still on the search for someone localish with vcds.

Hi mate, with regards to getting a VCDS, I’d be tempted to go for the unlimited VIN one. As once you’re confident, you could do stuff for others and make your money back.

Hi @the swan fiend, was thinking that, like to help others too. It’s just the initial outlay that hurts. Our wedding is on hold and so is house move so might borrow some of the savings to get it, if I get permission :D

Have a look at OBDeleven for £80 qiud ...
I've used it to install cruise, trip, upgraded my BCM, footwell and door card warning light, needle sweep and other things.
Never brought any credits or used the one click apps which is where it gets bad reviews.
I just follow the how to's on the Ross-tech site and do it through the long coding. Granted VCDS is easier as OBDeleven words certain things differently making it difficult to find.
On the plus side once you do a full scan you can look through all the long coding without it being connected to the vehicle so you can get familiar with it all.

@gary.8 have seen it mentioned but was thinking vcds has so much support on here I could get help if needed, plus I’d be the numpty that changed the wrong thing and screwed everything up :?

That's fair enough... I've had VCDS in the past so familiar with long coding.. so like you said there is a lot more support and help with it when you mess up .

I’m an old school mechanic, gave it up in about 1995 so more used to spanner’s and grease than long coding. Although did move to computers after so not afraid of software just haven’t done that for a few years. Maybe should grow a pair :D

I’m sure the missus will agree mate. Just ask her VERY nicely, and be prepared to retreat quickly!

After browsing the Gendam website I read the one review on the unlimited interface and it mentioned he got free haribo in the post with it. Told my Mrs, she has almost given me the green light to buy it.
“Free haribo? It’s like all your Christmas’s at once!”
Easily pleased, will remember that. If anyone needs anything from her, bring haribo :D

Got the box from a Passat but didn’t have a lid on any in the yard. I think they yank them off when taking the batteries out. Trying a different yard soon.

Forgot air horns on the list :D seen them in my garage but can’t get to them yet as too much stuff stored in there for other people

Just back from a quick trip to the scrappy’s, same up here, boxes but no lids, I’ve asked a couple of the guys that strip the batteries out to put a few VW battery lids by for me, fingers crossed
