If you want a Touran ratchet arm rest then yes you have to change the centre consul.
But you can just get the ones from eBay the fit in the holes at the back of the caddy centre consul

@ sevncaddylife
I have order some new ones
OK thanks for the reply, currently looking for a caddy 4 to replace my 3
and therefor needed to know if it would be easy retrofit :)

What a truly gorgeous car. Amazingly well documented and informative build page. I can’t wait to read more. :?

Its like premier in carpet, but with fewer dubious love stains! :lol:
Fair play mate...everytime I see a dash swap, and people say 'ah, it wasn't too bad, I just can't help feeling 'snakes wedding'!

I wouldn't know what went where!

@corradoguy94
Thank you for taking the time to read it.
There will be more to come as I’ve not finished yet.
But then again are they ever finished 😂

@stedlocks
Yeah it’s premier inn carpet and it new. So no stains yet 😂.
As for fitting the dash it straight forward really it’s just time consuming.

@peter
Thanks buddy. I think they are a lot better looking than the standard caddy dash and it looks car like if you get what I mean.

Yeah I’d agree mate, though it’s not a mod I’d be brave enough to attempt anytime soon!
Hopefully it’ll have a higher quality feel than the standard dash?

@hef
Thanks buddy. A few years your be on to other one by then😂
They are not that hard to do it was easier that I thought. It’s just time consuming for me as I wanted to get all the wiring in that I wanted so I don’t have to take it all a part again😁
I see you cracking on with your 4wd

I think they have done a nice job Image

Been thinking about what to do to the reps.
Maybe something like this.

But maybe swap the blue and black around Image
What you think

Very nice again mate..... You gonna be the first to retrofit the Audi air vents into the touran dash? :lol:
I can recommend using plastidip and doing your wheels yourself..... A company near me called 'matt-pak' do millions of colours and finishes. A set of wheels will cost around £40 for flip paints and pearls etc..... Its come on a million miles in recent years, and if it doesn't work, peel it off and do another colour!

Got some nice new speakers delivered last week. So I thought today would be a good day to fit them.

Theses are the original ones
Image

I had to drill out all the rivets that were holding the speakers in place.

Image

Image

Then I had to make the holes bigger to take the bolt rivets

Image

Image

Next I had to fit the speaker holder.

Image

Then finally fit the speakers
Image

They do sound a lot better. Image

Nice job with the speakers mate....you got a sub to go with them?
I’d say reverse the colours on the wheels, it may make them stand out more

@pete
I didn’t get a sub I might get one later I don’t know yet.
I now have 4 speakers in the front and I still got my bulkhead in so it can get loud in there 😂

Good work. I do think the stock speakers really let it down. Very tinny with no bass to speak of. I was thinking of adding a sub to see how that improved things. I'd be intersted to know how much more bass and mids a driver upgrade would produce?
