Managed to order an engine cover on eBay for £40 inc postage and it looks in decent condition, amazing what happens when you make an offer rather than paying full price!

Ordered side rail cover

Found fuse to sort fog lights and interior lights (must have blown it last week when did roof insulation, doh!) Why dont VW have fuse layouts in manuals or fuse box lids... Arrgghhh

Lifted ply floor to find dirty but undamaged body, so quick clean with some carb cleaner :o :o :o and whacked down some insulation and got the floor back down all in the space of a couple of hours. Hoping that will quieten the back down wee bit as the sound deadening and insulation up sides and roof didn't make too much difference.

Anyone know what the mount thingys are called for the engine cover?

New osf wheel bearing as it was howling, fitted my 19" rotors

Hi mate.
Just done the engine cover on my 2016 maxi.

I got the part number from this forum
04L 103 164 (ball head / ball joints)

Found this on ebay and they fit just fine

You need 2 of these: VW Audi Seat Skoda 04L103164 BALL JOINT

You need 1 of these: VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda 04L133287 WASHER

Before you spend a fortune on ebay, go to your local scrap yard. I got 2 of the ball mounts for £2. Most VAG cars have them on

New DRL bulbs arrived. Box was actually thinner than the bulbs so bulging with the smallest piece of bubble wrap possible. Surprised the bulbs were in one piece but they looked ok. Fitted them and one doesn’t work! Contacted seller for replacement.

Picked up a Mk6 Golf GTi steering wheel and Mk4 Caddy rear lights.
Tomorrow’s job to fit 😎😎

Got my mk4 lights fitted yesterday, need to get them coded still so if anyone local to Northampton can do it on a 2015 it’ll be much appreciated!
Then got a message from my uncle telling me he had a brand new set of mk4 lenses non tinted in his garage I could of bought! To late since I’d already bought some!
But available if anyone else is interested!

Spent an hour searching the scrap yard. List of bits I wanted, only managed to find a battery box but it was missing the lid, got it for £5.
Found lots of boxes all missing lids, reckon they yank them off when removing the batteries.
Going to be my Saturday morning trip from now on as it’s half a mile away from where I drop my stepson off

Fitted the Gti steering wheel and got the controls working Image
Also did the Mk4 tinted rear lights Image
