Electric wing mirrors to replace old manual wing mirrors?
Is it possible to replace the old wing mirrors with functioning electirc wing mirrors in a caddy maxi 2010?
I have to manually fold the mirrors everytime I park in my garage and was wondering if it would be possible to fit the electric mirrors from either another caddy or after market, prseumably with some type of contol mechenism, lever or button to contol the mirror?
Thanks

Yes mate the upgraded folding power mirrors are the caddy life units, not cheap unfortunately.
Iv had them on since lockdown began but Iv only just had the folding function coded in on mine, and it's soo much easier and flasher
It will need new door modules, I got them second hand off eBay from a Scirocco
And the interior switch will need replacing.
Well worth it though imo

Hello mate, did you need to repin your mirror connectors, or was it just coding needed?gazza31112 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 6:39 pm Yes mate the upgraded folding power mirrors are the caddy life units, not cheap unfortunately.

I've fitted these mirrors to my Mk3 with Scirocco modules and a new switch with folding position. I've activated them in VCDS but they do not fold. They move inside out upside down and back to front!!!! but they won't fold. I understand the reversed movement needs coding out, but VCDS tells me there is an electrical error with folding. Would be interesting to hear what you had done - although Mk4 is maybe different.

@Cailsey tbh mate I got my coding done by a forum member, all this coding goes straight over my head!!
But yea all what was needed was coding, deffo no re pinning.
Must be different between MK3 and MK4.
I might be wrong but I think he fixed the backwards windows with VCDS then used another lead for the folding, could be wrong though
Can't be no more help I'm afraid mate

Re: Electric wing mirrors to replace old manual wing mirrors?
No worries, thanks for your reply. I know both VCDS and the other coding (Eprom I think) are required to fully sort the direction issues with the Scirocco modules.
I need to find find wiring diagrams for the Mk4. I have VCDS but am very much a beginner with it.
I'm hoping to upgrade rear lights too and maybe a MFSW, so may as well get all the coding done at once.
Thanks again,

Re: Electric wing mirrors to replace old manual wing mirrors?
A bit late to the party, but just been scrolling through the forum looking for advice RE installing Caddy life mirrors.
Not sure if anyone can help, but I've seen these set on Travelin-Lite -
https://travelinlite-transporters.co.uk ... 3aa5&_ss=r
Anyone know if they will literally be plug and play? I have a 2017 mk4 caddy with the standard elephant ear mirrors (heated & electric). I'm not too bothered about getting them to fold! I just want to get rid of that hideous whistling noise!!
Thanks in advance,
Tomos

Re: Electric wing mirrors to replace old manual wing mirrors?
They are plug and play (in that the mountings and wiring match, and no coding is required). However, the bit that will require your attention is transferring the antennas from your old to new mirrors. You could also buy new antennas if you wanted to skip that, they're not included in the TravelinLite package. The old antennas don't fit perfectly in the new mirrors, but they fit well enough with a bit of fiddling. I used the old antennas, and I believe most people here do that too. There are simpler ways to get rid of the whistle, but can confirm the new mirrors are whistle-free.

Cheers anoneamus,
To be honest, that’s how I’ve convinced myself (and the Mrs) that they’re essential! Getting rid of the whistle.....
Hopefully they’ll be here today, so will give them a go.
Thanks
