New member - Silver Mk4 - North Wales
Hi Guys,
I've been a member on here for a year or so but haven't really introduced myself or my caddy. I've been adding and changing bits on the Mk4 over the past few weeks and have found the caddy2k forum really really useful and helpful!!! I bought the mk4 a few weeks before finding out my girlfriend was pregnant!! so a rear seat conversion was a must!! This was sorted by Ricky at Vee Dub Creations up in Doncaster! Top job and great service! Ricky also did a few other bits on the van for me too.
Mods I've done so far;
Rear Spoliler installed,
Mud Flaps,
Sportline side bars (Vanstyle)
Roof bars (vanstyle)
tinted the back windows
gloss black badges with reflex silver bases
Santiago 18" alloy wheels
Smoked led side repeaters
Touran rear seat conversion
Bulkhead delete
Non multi function golf gti style steering wheel fitted
Black forest indusries weighted gear knob
Pribate plates - 4d Plates - Plates surround
Chrome trims on the front bumper
I'm waiting for some smoked rear lights to be delivered (taillights and barn door brakelight) this weekend
Also toying with the idea of changing the mirrors soon!
Any help on how to upload pics via macbook will be much appreciated!!
Diolch / Thanks
Tom

Re: New member - Silver Mk4 - North Wales
Taillights and third brake light arrived today! Easy to fit! Just plug and play
Excuse the plinth! Will be sprayed to match the van over the next few days along with the side trims!
Taillights are genuine VW mk4 smoked lights and the top light was purchased off van x... was hoping for it to match the colour of the taillights...but prefer it to the original one (red lense)! Might see if i can “smoke” the original lense myself with “tinting spray” from halfords! It looks the part when breaks are on anyway!
2nd photo makes me want to lower the van but stock suspension is a must around where i live! Especially when the van is full with guitars, amps and kits!
Rear wiper also spoils it a tad for me. Interested to know how people cope without the wiper on rainy days and bad weather etc?

For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to spray the original plinth without sanding it down or priming it first!
Not to worry! I hope to get it sorted over the weekend!!

Was hoping to do some more work on the van over the weekend, but still waiting on bits! Needs a good clean too!
Managed to get the plinth sorted and added some caddy2k stickers for looks
Things to do over next few weeks;
Rear wiper delete
Colour code the side strips
Colour code and install new caddy life mirrors

Van’s desperate for a clean and the pics aren’t great! Will get some decent ones once the sun comes back out to play!

Re: New member - Silver Mk4 - North Wales
Been a busy few days with work so not done much to the van!
Still waiting for my caddy life mirrors to be delivered! And my Kill all wipers kit!
Just a couple of small mods this week
LED number plate lights
And a new “auto switch” added with a built in sensor;
I’ve also been on the hunt for new caddy 4 primed side mouldings... found some on ebay for £200... anyone know of cheaper ones available on the net?

Age old question......where did you get the led number plate bulbs from, and do they cause a bulb out error on the dash?? Been meaning to do mine for aaaages, but too many posts about various bulbs causing problems has delayed me

Hey Tony,
I got them off Travelin Lite (ebay). When i first installed them they were throwing up a warning light and it was driving me nuts.... but after cutting the edges of the rubber seals on the casing to match the OEM ones, they're fine! You may have to bend the connecting tabs too! So far so good....

Re: New member - Silver Mk4 - North Wales
Cracked the fibula in my right leg over the weekend so not been able to drive to get bits up to my local bodyshop! Just a small mod to relieve some boredom this afternoon....
Tinted the reflectors with smoke spray...
subtle mod, but they now match the colour of the taillights
Stage 1 remap booked in for this sat! Thank god for mobile service!

Re: New member - Silver Mk4 - North Wales
Stage 1 remap completed this morning... managed to take it out for a short spin and the difference is night and day!! Pulls so much better! Although it would be quite nice for more BHP, I’m quite happy with the 175!
Also mapped my old man’s T6. That drives much better too, but the Caddy seems to be a lot more reactive!
Hopefully get the side trims and mirror covers sprayed next week so I can put them on
Is anyone running their van on 18s and had it lowered with flaps and bars on? Was looking at maybe 40mm for a subtle drop, but don’t want to take the mud flaps or bars off!
Cheers
Tom

Re: New member - Silver Mk4 - North Wales
Hi @Tagllana1. Great looking van. I’m running my mk3 on 18’s pretty low on coil overs with side bars and no probs at all, and it’s Silver! Never had mud flaps fitted as I have read that quite a few of the lads have had to trim them down when running low because of dragging problems.
Now remapped to 145 BHP
