Cold caddy Brrrrrrrrrrr
Not found a category for this thread but hey never mind...
Its that time of year again where I wished I ran a warm van. Its cold, really cold! Ive a 2014 1.6 tdi maxi Kombi which takes as much as 5 miles to get to temp. Never had any vehicle so terrible. Most of the time my vehicles only need to run 1/4 mile for them to blow hot. Are we all in the same boat on here? What does everyone else do?

Re: Cold caddy Brrrrrrrrrrr
Hi buddy,
I went down the PTC heater route. This is a 1KW electric heater unit that is installed in the heater box in your dashboard and operates when your engine is running, the fan is on full and the engine is below a certain temperature, it is fantastic, almost instant warmth!
Straight forward enough to fit, albeit a little time consuming and parts should be cheap if you don’t mind a bit of a rummage round the breakers yards. My heater came out of a golf.
Or you could go the webasto heater route that warms up the engine coolant, bit more expensive and longer/harder to install.
There is a how to in the technical section.

Yeh, he told me about it, my Mrs saw it and added it to my job list!!
Well worth doing, takes more time removing from donor than it does to fit

Cold caddy Brrrrrrrrrrr
My caddy is the 3rd VAG vehicle I’ve owned now, the other two being an Audi A6 then an A8. I’ve noticed they’re all slow to blow warm air on a cold morning, about 4/5 miles I agree.

Most likely that will have a PTC heater installed.

Re: Cold caddy Brrrrrrrrrrr
Part numbers 1K0963235D or 1K0963235E are the CANBus controlled versions and by far the easiest to fit and can be found in the following vehicles...
And 1K0963235E
There may be/are other variants of the part number, however these were the 2 part numbers I searched for. I found one in the first car, a golf I looked in!
If you have the time and patience you can carefully strip out the wiring back to the earth point under the passenger sill trim cover and also all the way back to the engine compartment fuse board, remember to take the fuse and the bolt/nut for the cable.
Also remember to take the PTC heater cover or you’ll have to cut your original down to fit.
There is also a good how2 in the technical section including how to code it in and test it.
