Stock speaker wattage on caddy 2013

Post by Andrejm »

Know that is better to immediately fit aftermarkets in doors, but can i use stock front speakers on amplifier (75w) with crossover to reproduce only mids and high? Can't see size of magnet. Are speakers capable to do this or it will blow? Thanks

I believe that the stock head units are 4x20W RMS. I don’t know what the door speakers are, but they may only be 10W RMS. That will be ok from a 75W RMS amp as long as you don’t turn it up too much. You should hear the speakers starting to distort before they fail. A speaker is more at danger from an underpowered amp being pushed hard and sending a clipped signal to the speaker. Personally I would advise upgrading the speakers ASAP because the stock ones are pants.

Thanks for answer, still witing some butyl to isolate doors, weehl arch, flor, and dont want to disassemble door card twice.
I will not push too much power on them, amplifiers and rear speakers are to be installed for day or two. Thanks

On my RNS315 (fitted in a Maxi) there are two pairs of unused outputs for the rear speakers (slot 2, pin 1 (rear right +), pin 4 (rear left +), pin 5 (rear right -), pin 8 (rear left -)). I presume all the OEM head units have outputs for rear speakers.
