Front seat change

Post by JamesTyrrell »

Hey all, I've got some leather recaro seats I think they're out of a mk4 golf in the caddy ATM and they're on touran bases. I've bought some lovely seats from a newer sirocco. So even though it's dark I thought it would just be a straight swap. So I took the recaro seats out, and the touran cubby hole thing was still attached to the seat. So I tried to bolt in the sirocco seats straight to the H frame and quickly realised the rails were about 10mm too wide. Do I need to use the rails from the touran bases on the sirocco seats for them to fit? Is there a tutorial on how to do this anywhere? Preferably a video one

Put the recaros back in for now but really want these sirocco seats in as they're much nicer.

Thanks guys.

Yep you’ll need the touran bases installed to put them on. Just done mine today and had to do the same Image

Turns out I have caddy bases, I thought cause I had the storage compartments that they were touran bases but I took the seats out and the storage bits were attached to the seat and not the bases so I must have caddy bases

Did you have seat airbags already? Did your new seats just plug straight in? I’d love a set of these ‘R’ seats but I have airbags and I’m concerned they will need loads of work.

Are these the R line seats from any of the R line golf/passat/sirocco?

They're lovely 👌

Easy, need an M10 star drive bit. Will need some new bolts too. If getting from a scrap yard, pick up the bolts at the same time

Sounds too good to be true. Is this across all MK3s? The Touran seats I'm seeing are from 2009 and fold down flat.

Does yours have airbags? Need to wire the new ones in if it does.
Otherwise the bases line up lovely and a simple job.
Will probably be a little higher than your existing seats.

What's a good price to pay for touran seat bases?

Seems like prices are all over the shop on line and with breakers 😔

Paid £40 for 2
From scrappy.
They said they don’t sell them without seats but as someone had taken the seats and left the bases they would.

I always thought the touran bases made the seat that little bit higher

Touran bases are higher than caddy bases but most car seats go a lot lot lower than standard caddy seats so overall the seating position is lower when you go from caddy seats on caddy bases to a car seat on Touran base.
