Caddy 2017 engine cover,

Post by helipil0t »

IMG_5570[1].JPG
The one niggling aspect of my van was the filthy engine bay which basically stems from the lack of a engine cover as supplied from the factory, i was also told that the vans supplied with air con did not have the under guard fitted so as to keep the ac compressor cool. The result of this is a dirty engine bay probably not helped by previous owners.
After reading up on the topic here i found a suitable engine cover on e bay unusual in that it was marked up with a manufacturers badge ??? two ball end bolts were required for mounting to the front of the engine ( rear two fitted from the factory )

What with the dark nights coming in and of course lock down i ended up having plenty of spare time. So armed with rattle cans i had lying about in the workshop and a couple of badges purchased again from ebay i set about smartening up what was a dull black cover. Artistic licence applied and a few days later and much masking and swearing !! ending up with the finished result below.

You've made a really nice job of that mate, im after one myself for my 2016 plate,
Im also going put a bonnet lining on as well if I can find one, my 07 plate has one and it makes it quieter, it will also be much nicer not seeing the primered underside.

Yes, its a 2016 highline. Im not sure to be honest, im going to see what replies you get in the bonnet insulation thread to be honest lol.

Otherwise ill take the one off my 07 plate and see if it fits the 2016 one and if it does ill order a mk3 one.

You've done a great job of spraying the cover. It should look amazing when fitted πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Hi Had a look at you album your Caddy looks great, On the engine cover look for any same year VW AUDI SEAT car running the same engine and you will find most have covers as standard from the factory its only the vans that really dont have them fitted. I got a used cover and the two bolts off ebay ,

Paint just normal car touch up aerosol cans done this on a S3 engine in the past and had no problem heat related

To save anyone having to search, I found this info elsewhere on the forum - the cover part number is 03L103925R and the number for the o-ring for the oil filler neck is 03L133287
