Silver Mk4 Caddy Life

Post by Marcmcq90 »

Hi all,

Some of you might have seen my introduction in the new members area but I thought I’d start a thread in here too...

I was very happy with my little Skoda citigo given that with a roof rack on it, it was one of the biggest cars in the world. Problem was that my wife wouldn’t let me put our daughter and dog on the roof so I needed something with a bit more interior space.

I have always fancied a van for my bikes and what not but again, need somewhere for our daughter... cue the hunt for a caddy life.

Bought via click and collect in the middle of a global pandemic, I was very pleasantly surprised with the condition!

I set to work buying all of the parts for the modifications that I was wanting and since I picked it up two weeks ago, it’s changed a fair bit.

Here’s some photos from how it was when I picked it up:

And after purchasing the following:

Romac Radium 18” ET45 Satin Black wheels
Avon ZV7 225/40/18 92W tyres
H&R 40-60mm lowering springs
Darkside rear lowering kit
Vanstyle black side bars
Vanstyle black front splitter
Vanstyle rear bumper protector
HEKO wind deflectors
Tinted rear windows

This is how she stands today:

Got some plans for the inside such as an internal bike rack, removable camping box and a wireless charging pad but they will be slow progress!

Cheers!

Howdie :D

Very good work straight away there. Bet you're wife is pleased your kids riding inside.

Tinting the windows was a nice idea bud.

Enjoy the growing list.

Most of the time, yeah. Great thing is, the roof rails on the caddy still give us options for when kiddo is misbehaving. 👍🏻

Thanks for all your comments!

I wasn’t all that sold on the silver colour but as tomo88 said, the SWB caddy doesn’t seem quite as popular as the maxi and I had no requirement for a wheelchair adapted one so once one with the right miles/ age/ price/ condition came up, I couldn’t afford to be too fussy with the colour!

I do think that the silver looks quite nice with the black colour coding now though!

So the next mini mod I’ve done is the sunglasses holder to replace the drivers grab handle... must say, given that all the other stuff has gone so smoothly, didn’t expect this to be the one to cause chew Image.

So here it is, the most ill fitting sunglasses holder in the world. Does not close fully and sticks half way shut. Doesn’t even fit a pair of wayfarers in either. Image

I think it’s probably a cheap eBay knock off... anyone got a VW part no for the mk4 bora (I think) version, that’s tried and tested?

I was never a massive fan, but needs must! Got to say, it’s grown on me massively. It’s nice that it’s got a few more interior touches such as the leather steering wheel, arm rest etc. Thoroughly impressed with it!
