Re: Swan’s caddy build
Haha I’ve been on the forum for two years and still have loads to do the fact my mk4 bumper has been in the shed for nearly 6 months and still yet to be painted is a good indication of how fast mine moves! It’s not a race and I find makes each little mod that more enjoyable

Re: Swan’s caddy build
Same here mate, it would probably be a big anti climax to have it all done in a few months anyway
I can beat that, my spoiler has been in the back bedroom for about 2 years, so I’m out of your league on that
Next up is to fit my front splitter, then it’s looking like I’ll be doing the front wheel bearings. After that, mk4 mirrors. That’ll be in about 12 months I think as I’ve got a few priorities financially. Unfortunately, unless it’s maintenance, the van takes last place there.

Okay you got me there
I completely appreciate that mate. I’m saving for my first house so that has taken priority for me.
Really looking forward to seeing the splitter on. I smashed mine last year on a very steep gradient in Cornwall and haven’t got round to replacing it

The houses always seem to take priority that will never change. There the biggest money pit going second is the caddy closely followed by the wife

Re: Swan’s caddy build
I’ll fit it back end of next week I hope. I know all about those gradients. Cycling around there a few weeks back in 27 degrees almost killed me!
Yeah, houses are a money pit. I have 2, I rent one out. There’s always something ending doing, I don’t really make any money on it so repairs usually come out of my own pocket. The Tennant’s want to buy it in a few years, I can’t wait till they do!!

Re: Swan’s caddy build
Good plan mate. I’m hoping to move to France in 10 years, and do a little holiday let. So semi retired at 50 I hope. Depends a lot on what the housing market here does though.

It’s not getting any easier is it? Pensions aren’t great and the price of everything is going up.
Hope it works out for you mate.

Re: Swan’s caddy build
You do mate. Faulty boilers, leaky gutters, blown plaster, rotten floor joists. I’ve had it all!!
Best advice I can give you, is save the biggest deposit you can mate.

Re: Swan’s caddy build
I agree with you there Pete we're telling the youngest and her boyfriend save up and get a good deposit and once you've got your house and mortgage pay it off as soon as possible it will save you tens of thousands in interest we managed to pay ours in 8 years down to the wife's money management

Thanks for the advice guys. Seems like an impossible task in this day and age but I’m about half way there now.
