Rear seat conversion - just how 'quick' release are the seats?

I was planning to do a rear seat conversion using the quick release removeable seats from either a caddy life or touran. (cant remember if both allow for quick release)

Anyhow i recenty helped my mate to remove what were supposed to be quick release seats from his transporter.
The only thing quick was the undoing the latch that holds the seats down!

I know its a bigger van but mean, man... these things weighed a ton! He had a double and a single seat and even the single was a two man job to lift the seat and put it in his garage.
No way was it quick or easy.

If i had the rear seats id probably need to swap them in and out quite frequently so wanted to know from anyone who's got the rear seats in their caddy how 'easy' it is to remove and replace the rear seats?

Can you do it single handedly or need a helper due to the weight?

Is it something that you could do regularly or would it be a ball ache?

@veedubgub just finished servicing the van and saw your post. I've fitted the caddy life seats to mine, it all depends how strong you are I suppose. Heres a video of me removing mine. Hi, the Touran seats used in conversions are also very easy/quick to remove, a few seconds and each unit is out (Touran ones are 3 individual seats).

Agree with Lister. I have Touran seats. Each seat has a tab that you pull , this enables seat to tilt forward & then there's 2 locking tabs under each seat which release dead easy. Seats have a strap handle on the back & it's just a case of lifting the folded seat off the rail

Thanks for that video. Thats gives me a good idea that this will be easy enough for me.

Looking at it, the seats are actually alot less bulky than the transporter ones which is good.
In comparison they were big with alot of heavy tubular steel framing around the backs. They took up a fair amount of his garage floor space too.

I’ve fitted the touran rears in mine. They are ideal for removing and putting back in as abs when you need them

The standard Maxi Life centre row seats are easy enough, but the double is a heavy one.
I'm old and unfit, but can do it single handed.

Touran is the way to go. In this pic you can see the red strap to unlatch from the rear floor or from the support struts and the red locks at the front. Easy as, and light enough for your average adult

I'm literally about to do the same. Have a donor touran I was going to use but decided to get the OEM caddy seats so I have 3 proper seatbelts in the back. There no where near as heavy as the transporter ones ( had a shuttle for a short time... Long story) , the single was ok... Double was heavy and the 3rd row triple well that was a 2 person lift and even then not handy.

Yes, all can be fitted individually but the middle can only fit in the middle and the belt anchors are handed so they all have their own slot if you see what I mean. Such a good system though IMO.
Handy if you need floor space for something longer I suppose.

The touran seats i think are alot more practical for removal and installation

Sorry to jump in on this post, I have some Mk 7 heated Golf R seats in the front and I'm looking at buying the rear set to go in the back (it already has a seat row), are there any compatibility issues with the rear seats.

Mine us a 2012 Caddy by the way.

@Darkblade. The MK7 rear seats will not fit your van (or any caddy), they are totally different.
