Re: Wheel bearing
I'm guessing this is a question and not some statement of opinion which is missing the actual place.
In my opinion, anywhere you can buy FAG brand as that the Original Equipment Manufacturer for the wheel bearings used on our vans.

Re: Wheel bearing
Doesn't have to be badly made, repeatedly bouncing up curbs and parking on pavements can knacker any wheel bearing in months, doing high speeds round tight corners all the time the same as travelling with over weight inside or going over rough surfaces at speed all are factors that can destroy even the best mechanical components.
I'm not saying theses reasons are what's happened here even the best and most expensive parts can have a fault and fail under normal use but normally these things depend on how they are looked after either by its previous or current owner.
How many garages correctly pack a wheel bearing with grease these days, I've seen and heard of so called experts take a wheel bearing out of its box and simply put it straight on the vehicle, no wonder it's failed again 12 months later.

Re: Wheel bearing
As far as I’m aware Scooby, nearly all vehicles use sealed bearings these days.

The caddy hasn't needed one yet fingers crossed.

Re: Wheel bearing
maybe it's luck, but I think longevity varies massively.
Ive had 4 VAG group cars, 5 including the caddy. Never needed a wheel bearing. My A4 had done 260k on originals I'm fairly sure.
Current and first FoMoCo group car and it has had bearings fail in 75k miles... FAG branded original and replacement..

Re: Wheel bearing

Buy when cheap/current and just be a tight arse refusing to replace, suddenly before you know it your cars are called classics or even vintage lol.

Re: Wheel bearing
Sounds like a good idea! I’ve got an old Yamaha FZS600, it’s still worth now what I paid for it in 2007. I live in hope that it becomes valuable
