Thanks for clarifying!
I'm new to the caddy scene, but already have some plans and appreciate the inspiration I can find here

ok Great to know, your explanation has been easier to grasp than that of other threads i have read.
at risk of being told im cheating, did you write down any of the changes you had to make?
Forum is a real hive of info… some very clever members on here

Only way to go… as it would be from factory… some very ropey conversions out there. From full loom swaps to cutting and splicing to make do.the swan fiend wrote: ↑Sun Jul 24, 2022 10:06 am Some very smart mods here mate. Looks like it’s going to be a great build. It’s good to see no splicing being done on the loom. If I ever had a petrol conversion. I’d insist it was done that way too.

Re: Toilet TFSI - Caddy4
So having seen this on a friends front Mclaren tyres to reduce road noise I decided to add some 16mm thick open cell foam to the inside of the tyre. Common on EV’s too.
Good for a few db’s.

Re: Toilet TFSI - Caddy4
Ye I hadn’t till we were swapping out the oe tyres on a friends Mclaren 570s for wider tyres, before going the ring.
Difference was quite a bit louder… beyond what 10-15mm wider tyre would do. Tests would suggest 2-4db and a change in sound.. as it’s not linear measurement.
Only thing I read is a small fraction of these tyres suffer from the foam coming away and sometimes giving a vibration. So I have bought a spare piece of foam so I can see how well the contact glue has done first.

Re: Toilet TFSI - Caddy4
The pirelli pzeros R01 tyres on my rs3 have this foam in them to. I suppose them being 235 35 19 profile probably helps some what with the road noise. Interesting mod you doing there buddy. I think your the only one I've read on a few forums that as gone this route. Thinking outside the box indeed

Little update on the foam in the tyres... went back to them today and its all bonded very well. The foam rips before the glue comes away!

Really enjoying this build! When I build cars, I'm always looking to save weight. What model VW do these aluminium sub-frames come from?
1.9 TDi remappped to 170bhp 284ft/lbs. 18 inch VW alloys.

They are Passat b6 hubs and arms with caddy bushes in. Subframe is early caddy or Mk5 golf

I love your use of foam in the tyres. It’s exactly what you see inside the acoustic Michelins that cost about £20 more per tyre. Next time mine are up for renewal I think I’ll follow your lead.

Also the cubby’s turned up…
28mm front (h&r) and 24mm rear (white line) anti roll bars.
Thinking mid setting on the front and hardest on the rear.
