Black Pearl Caddy Build

Post by Lukesy123 »

Hi Guys,

It’s great to be a new member on this great forum !

I just purchased my first caddy on the weekend. A lovely deep black pearl caddy MK4, highline SWB.

I can’t wait to get my teeth into this build … I’ve wanted a van for a very long time. I’m coming from a BMW 3 F30 M Sport, which I modified loads over the last few years.

I first started looking at vans to make my life a little easier as a carp angler. It wasn’t fun loading my car with my fishing gear like I was playing a real life game of Tetris every other weekend. What was originally an idea to but a cheap / battered van, quickly spiralled into the idea of getting something a little bit nicer and starting a project - to use as a main vehicle as well as something I can drive to the lake.

Stay posted for updates on my build. Got some big (and small) ideas that have been inspired by many of your builds allready on this forum. Can’t wait to get going ! ImageImage

:D First Mod !

I added these dynamic smoked side repeaters from Travelin-Lite.

Really easy to change and look smart.

(Please excuse the crap picture it’s snowing where I am!)

Fit these GTI style pedals from Travelin-lite today. Very easy to remove the standard pedals and fit the new ones. The clutch and brake pedals are actual “heads” that you swap, whereas the accelerator is just a cover that you put over the existing pedal - which is attached by bending some tabs.

Really easy to do overall and brush up the cabin just that little bit more :D

Been quiet the last few weeks as been flat out with work. Here’s some more things I’ve done to the caddy.

I added some gloss black VW badges on the front and back

Next I added these Interior LED lights from eBay. They are very bright but I’m not too happy with the middle one being a completely different shade of blue / white. Will probably change these in the future.

New shoes. I found these 18” VW Golf GTi Austin Alloy wheels on marketplace. Freshly powder coated and decent rubber on them too.

PCD: 5x112
Size: 8Jx18 ET: 45

The ride is still great, and they look really nice on the van. Just look at that gap though haha. Booked in with wolfsburg next month to get it lowered to sort that out. Coming along nicely

How are you getting when you’re carrying your fishing gear? I’ve just bought a 2015 SWB (pick up next week). I originally was looking for a Maxi but got an offer I couldn’t refuse for a SWB. I’d be interested to see how you’re getting on loading your gear. I’m a carp angler so usually carry everything plus the kitchen sink :(

Looks smart has your accelerator pedal stayed on?
