So I've just bought a new key and had it cut.
Got it home and swapped the insides of the key over.
Found the small immobiliser chip and thought hmm that looks delicate better not mess this up.
Then gently (or not so much) tried to remove it and it snapped
I have ODB eleven is there anyway to turn the immobiliser off?
Or can someone tell me how to get the SKC code. Caddy 2006 SDI.
I'm goosed and it's my only vehicle please help a heavy handed muppet.

Re: Just broke the immobiliser chip in my key
Ouch, that could have been a lot more expensive.
I've known of people get charged £250 in a situation like that.
Very surprised the place that cut your key didn't have the facilities to clone your transponder to save you swapping it over.

Re: Just broke the immobiliser chip in my key
Well I did it cheap and just bought a key off ebay without anything inside because only the metal key part snapped off my old one.
So I only needed to get them to cut the actual key, was made up with myself when I got back and put it all together thinking I'd saved myself a few quid.
And here I am £80 lighter because I'm a heavy handed muppet

If it’s any consolation mate, my muppetness (technical term ) has cost me a lot more than that in the past.
Good to hear you have a solution mate.

Re: Just broke the immobiliser chip in my key
No help this time, but if it's a flip key, you just swap the new blade into the old plastic endcap and leave the chip where it is... WAY safer
I've made myself 3 key for my car this way, so I enough spares if I do something dumb (again ).

Re: Just broke the immobiliser chip in my key
Haha yep that was the original plan but because the new one was so clean looking I thought I'd rather have that than a van that starts
