2006 Front Fog Light Installation.

Post by Wexfordcaddy »

Hi guys. Currently have the dsg gearbox sitting on the ground waiting for a replacement dual mass to go into it. With loads of space to work with and the van up on axle stands I'd said I'd go ahead and get my front fogs fitted.
I have the lights, I have the grills, I have the switch, question is what wiring kit do I need to install these to factory spec ??. Does the wiring loom just go from the spots to the bcm and then it's just a matter of coding them in or is there more to it.
I don't want to install them on a separate switch on the dash.
Thanks in advance.

You need a CECM that supports Foglights.

On the CECM you need to connect 3 wires: 2 for the Foglights and 1 for the switch.

I have the correct pinout for you if you like?

Please if you don't mind. How don't have the number for the cecm that supports figlights. My van had the cruise control wire already installed when I fitted the cruise control so I'm only hoping it has an extra few bits.

I hope it’s allowed, otherwise remove this message @doc

The correct pin on the CECM are:
A4 - Foglight front right
D2 - Foglight front left
E6 - Pin 5 on the lightswitch
The earth/ground for the lights can be connected to the earthpoint behind the headlight on each side

The wires will be missing, as VW didn’t prepare wiring for future upgrades anymore from before 2000 already I believe

Below you’ll find a list of CECM’s
You’ll need a Highline CECM for Foglights

Wow. Gentleman. Thanks a million for that.
Just checked the rear of light switch. I have no wire at pin 5 on the plug.
I'm thinking this is gonna turn out to be a big job.

2006 Front Fog Light Installation.

Post by maxx007at »

Nah, it’s actually not that big a deal to do.
Sonce you already have room in the enginebay you can get the wires in really easy.

Changing the CECM is not that big a deal, just make sure you have (someone with) VCDS with you , so you can make screenshots of every byte and bit of your old CECM before removing it.

You’ll need that to code the “new” one in first.
Once that’s done, you can code the new CECM to enable fog lights.

Find the number of your cecm first.
From the list above, You will need a highline version. Note you can go to a higher Byte one, but not lower.
Then I do a factory style loom, including the switch trigger wire.

Central Electronic Control Module, it's what's fitted on the pre 2010 Caddys and a similar module is referred to as a BCM on the newer Caddys.

Cheers tommyzoom. You make up the looms. The trigger wire you talk about goes from pin 5 on the switch to the cecm ???

Hello! I have a 2006 Caddy which i am going to change the CECM to a 3C0937049AJ (i have 3C0937049D today) I wonder if OEM cable 1T0971095AB is of any help which seems to be together with outside temperature sensor and wires for original mounted fog lights? I think i bought a cable last time from you to my 2011 van when i changed BCM module to fit foglights. Is that maybe the wiring i need today also for the 2006 van?

Best regards from Örjan in Sweden.

Yes,( sort of) It will connect to both fogs, but that loom plugs into a plug in the engine bay, Your van wont be wired from here back to the CECM.
