No worries:

I put two rivnuts in the C pillar to take the screws, but you could probably screw it straight to a wooden panel or unit instead.

Absolutely epic, loving the air tent which gives a much bigger seating/cooking area than my little tailgate setup providing the weather is on your side but at least you can chuck the cooker in the van and carry on if it gets a bit too draughty.

Looks like all the planning and hard work putting it all together is paying off nicely and great to see it doing what it was built for and making memories, that's what it's all about.

Great pictures 8)

Thanks Dixieland

We very nearly went for the tailgate tent after seeing it on your excellent thread, but eventually decided that something we could drive away from would be better for us.

The fact you can reverse a Caddy into the tent is a massive bonus and has been a game changer!

That’s the one petrev

It’s a 10/10 from us: very quick/easy to pitch and put down, groundsheet is removable, three sides open fully, and you can get an optional inner tent for sleeping.

It’s the first air tent we’ve used in 10+ years of camping and the only weather that beat it so far was 50mph winds on the west coast of Scotland! But as it’s an air tent, it just deformed and recomposed itself with each gust. We decided to put it down overnight just in case!

Just need to pump it, peg it, back the van in and crack a beer

Just back from Campers and Coffee in East Sussex: great event and a good number of 2K Caddys among the other VW stuff.

Saw a very interesting Mk1 as well!

Yes, interesting MK1 indeed.
Good to see the pop-top LWB Mk4s too no doubt.

Hi Jon

Just out of curiousity, I looked at the CnC website ....
is it just a meet and greet for camper vehicles or are they any coffee set ups there (apart from the odd one selling coffee) ?

cheers
Stu

I think it started as a camper event but I think anyone is welcome to show a vehicle: there were some old Beetles and other stuff as well.

You can turn up the night before for the camp out and then on Sunday there are vendors/coffee/food/ice cream etc. and a vote for the best vehicle.

I'm sure it's been mentioned countless times on the forum already but there is apparently a really good VW event up the Northumberland coast which has been going on for a good few years so must be doing something right.

Absolutely nothing to do with me and I've never been so no first hand info though do pass the campsite on a regular basis on my travels and it looks like a perfect spot......might be of interest to some :?:

VW Camp Out (VW ONLY)
Budle Bay, Northumberland
2023 dates: 28th April - 1st May

My bad......I actually got the two events mixed up

Its the Beach Gathering 25th-28th August 2023 which isn't actually exclusive to VW's.......obviously the VW one has already been and gone this year
