Injector coding issue

Post by Kolorrestore »

I've had to replace 1 injector I've coded it in fine but on further inspection it seems that my caddy has had more injectors and I've noticed by looks of it has has not been coded I've coded number 3 as a code was on a sticker on the neck of the injector and was a diffent code to what was on the ecu
Now number 4 the numbers have been scrubbed off the top and there is no code on injector I don't think this has been coded either
If I go into injector values injector 123 are very close around 5.8 to 6 but injector 4 is reading 7.1
I have rough idle on cold and sounds like a knock in lower gears so I suspect that that this injector is not coded
Is there any way you can get code or learn the injector to the system?? I haven't owned my caddy long so have no history with it

(Warning: I'm no expert on this!!!)
There are videos on youtube on this. You need VCDS or similar.
I would be very, very careful - make absolutely sure you know what type of injector(s) you have and what they should be coded to. If you don't know, use your engine code and search the net.
I would not attempt it until I'd investigated thoroughly.

.. maybe this helps...

Just an idea, the injector for cylinder 4 may be either a reconditioned one or possibly one bought from a motor factors and not direct from vw.
Reconditioned ones normally scrub out the code.

Yeah that's not the issue I don't think whoever fitted the injector has coded it to the van but I have no way of knowing the code as there is no numbers on the injector
As I've said injector 123 are all around the same values but injector 4 is a higher value as stated there is rough running from cold and engine sounds like knocking at low revs I have read this is mainly due to uncoded injectors
But is there anyway u can get the ecu to learn injector values
I read somewhere about a setting in vcds in basic setting

That function is available on OBDEleven but I've never managed to get it to work, I've only ever managed to get it working with VCDS.

AFAIK, that function relies on the code that's been entered, so running it "as is" might not help you much, unless it wasn't run when the injectors were changed previously.

I'm might just have to get another injector and code that in properly keep the one I haven't got code for in glove box least if I break down can get it home lol
I tried running program with odb eleven just says active but don't rev engine or anything so I guess it's not working

Yeah that's the same problem I have with it. OBDEleven is a useful little tool to keep in the glovebox but for any "technical" type stuff I prefer VCDS now. VCDS is actually simpler to use for most things too!

I'm Birmingham be great if someone can run the adaptation program see if it helps as there no way I have the injector code or can get it for that injector so may help
I bought the caddy to start new buisness
Odb eleven is great for what I mainly use it for just trying to get rid of this problem
Think I also gotta replace rocker cover as oil keeps appearing at tops of injector 3 and 4 closest to oil filler neck I noticed that the neck is leaking gas when I had a injector leaking as sprayed the top of rocker with soapy water and was getting bubbles from filler neck from what I read that is another common issue ffs lol
