Washer level light
Hi first post and all, came across this whilst trying to find out why my 2016 Caddy Maxi washer light is stuck on, guessing its the washer level sensor thats failed but wondering where it is and if its an easy fix? Cant seem to find any videos etc so thought this might be a place to ask?
Van is due a MOT in a few weeks and will obviously fail due to this

Re: Washer level light
Your level sensor is in the screenwash bottle.
It may be accessible if you remove the d/s foglight

Re: Washer level light
I think you need the bumper off, it’s not as big a job as it sounds, I don’t think you can access it by removing the arch liner
There’s a topic in the How To in the technical section

Re: Washer level light
On mine (2005) you access it by taking off the plastic wheel-arch liner, then it's quite easy to access (easier to take wheel off first, but maybe not necessary) - you don't need to touch the lights.

Re: Washer level light
Thanks, tried to remove the panel where fog lights would sit but didnt want to budge so ended up making a bit of a mess of that, theres a little inspection panel on the back of the arch liner but not really big enough, I then managed to get my hand down and found where the wire was going into the resevoir and pulled it and out came the pump!!!! water leaking everywhere lol, anyway after a lot of cursing I managed to get it back in, not sure if the sensor is part of the pump assembly or if its a seperate piece? Its booked in for next friday anway now for its MOT and mentioned the light was on for the washer level, washers still work fine so if they can possibly code the light to stay off I'll just do that.

Re: Washer level light
The sensor is seperate, beside the pump.
If you go on ebay, and search for a caddy screenwash reservoir, there'll be a few, probably ones without a sensor (as they are much more common) but you will see the round indent, beside the pump, that is drilled out to fit a sensor.

Re: Washer level light
Is a low screen wash level indication a MOT failure now?

Re: Washer level light
depends on who is doing the MOT ;-)
Ummm it's a warning light rather than meaning a fault-----... I've known MOT testers fail cars when the back head rests were not fitted because it's a safety issue (whiplash, etc.)

Re: Washer level light
It's not a mot failure ...
A dash light for Low level washer fluid is no difference than having a low level fuel light on.

Oh right I just thought any warning light on dash was an instant failure, thanks for the info

Do they all have the sensor?tommyzooom wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 9:51 pm Your level sensor is in the screenwash bottle.

I’ve a 2019 Maxi Life and have never seen the light come on before topping up.
Sounds anal & unnecessary but it’s a small thing I’d probably retrofit if it’s not standard

Re: Washer level light
No it’s not standard that I know of, just an up grade along with heated washer jets
