Routing leisure battery cable through firewall

Hi there I'm trying to get a power cable through the firewall from the main battery on the passages side. It's a 2016 caddy I've tried down the side then through near the door however I'm failing to get access big enough without drilling into the van.

Any one of any ideas? Thanks

Remove the closing panel at the back of the engine bay. Give it all a good clean out and get a torch out you will find a suitable large grommet to use.

The big red cable is coming through it and the other one in the lower bit of the plate you will remove to see what you are doing.

If you remove the hvac fan under the passenger side dashboard, you see a large grommet plate with several spare "nipples" which you can use to get a wire through to the engine bay along with the main wiring harness.
You'll need to remove the battery to get access down behind it and beside the ABS pump.

This route follows the factory wiring and is for the most part a dry route rather than routing through the scuttle panel where you might create a water leak into the cabin.

Question for you
What steps do I have to take to remove n replace the battery
Might sound like a silly question but I've heard of weird things happening if you don't follow the correct procedures

Should I check the voltage in the battery first Incase it's low / end of life (don't want to deplete it unnecessarily by removing)

I think I read in a post somewhere that taking the battery out can cause problems with some functions like speed sensors or something ??

What can I do to prevent this from occuring ... or if it does, what can I do to rectify the situ

You're reading too much into it buddy, it's not a life support machine. Just take the battery off and then put it back on when you are done.

Thanks for the advice did as you said took the battery out and went through a nipple under the glove box. Didn't have to remove the blower there was just enough room.

1 undo the negative
2 undo the positive
3 remove sleeve if it has one
4 unclipped the pipe next to the battery
5 un did the bolt that hold the battery down the left side ( see picture)
6 battery out
7 found nipple pieced it with Screwdriver remove foam from under glove box to locate the rubber grommet thing
8 threaded wire through tapped to some metal
9 tucked under the trims
Reversed process to get battery back in don't be alarmed some lights come up onnthe dash they go off when driving

The cable I put in is only showing .3 on the volt meter is that normal? I was just using the floor as a grounding point so wasn't best

Update was showing .3 because rhe earth was crap sand down to the metal should do it

just one thing not to panic about: when you take the battery out for a longer period, sometimes the data related to steering angle resets. When you put it back in, the orange steering wheel warning sign might light up. You just need to drive a bit and new data is collected - it should go out after about a max. of 50 km

@ Doc - yeah I realise, but I don't want to F up any of the computer tech etc - just heard of things going bad that was all if you removed battery
