Tickingsound centerconsule

Post by CaddyUser »

Hi,

First time posting here.

I recently purchased a 2017 caddy. 2.0 tdi 4m.

I get a clicking sound coming from the rear of the center console area.
This only comes on when the car is cold, and disappears when the car has warmed up. about 5 min max.
it is a steady clicking sound that is not affected by either the car's speed or revs.
The sound is like 2 tick per second.
I have looked under the car from where the sound seems to be coming from. There is only one hangingpoint for the exhaust which seems to be in good condition and shaft.

So I was wondering if anyone had experience with this?
Nice to ask here before I tear apart the interior.
I have also run a full check with the scantool just to check. No fault codes.

Cheers.

There could be something coming into contact with the heater actuator arm and stopping it from moving freely; see if you can hear it happen more when you adjust the blower temperature

The Caddy4 suffers from a recirculation flap servo arm disconnecting.
Test by pressing the recirculation button and listen.
If that is your issue, you'll need to remove the glove compartment and cut away some of the frame inside unless you fancy taking the entire dashboard out.

The speed of the fan dose not affect the sound. It is present regardless if fan is running or not.
I can add that the sound stops if i turn the enigne of.
I check behind the Seats earlier today. And the sound seems to be in the floor. I can’t really hear it that well for the underneath if the car. It is easiest to hear from inside the cockpiten.

Edit: the recirc button does not light up when pressing it.
So maybe there is a problem there. Will Google some more :D :D
