That's basically what I did, except I bought a Touran and swapped the whole engine and gearbox over. I also used like the front seats & centre console. I already had things like the steering wheel, dashboard and electric windows, so I recouped some of the cost by selling those spare bits off.

Well hopefully I start to get replies from numerous companies I’ve emailed in the next week.

I’ve been messaging everyone. But don’t want to do this through desperation!

Anyone heard of mdm technik ltd?

Give heff a pm, him and medz did my conversion on my previous caddy.
Did a nice oem looking job. No issues, no fault lights and when I plugged in obdeleven to check something out, had no faults on any of the modules.
They also fitted correct petrol dials.

Engine conversion recommendations?

Post by TheGee »

I had HD Caddy do mine from a 1.6tdi to 2ltr tfsi & he’s done an excellent job. Everything has been re pinned and loomed correctly, immobiliser still on, vin number corrected on the ecu, aircon is perfect and not a single issue nor fault code after 2000 miles. He also gave me all the necessary documentation for the ulez rubbish and a new mot. The labour was £2500 and I supplied the Eos but everything else was included in his price.

My gearbox blew & took out almost everything it could so I bought a crazy low mileage Eos & used that for a few weeks & then once he’d stripped my van I drove the car up. Driving it normally now I get 37ish mpg which isn’t much different to the tdi.

I would never convert a van you can buy, just doesn’t make make sense in my eyes unless your really attached to the van.

Surely an egr delete/bypass kit and a map would be the easiest cheapest option.

People tend to convert to 3.2 VR6 or 2.0 tfsi. You can’t buy a van with those engines from VW mate

None of the conversion is hard if you know how to read a wiring diagram ;)

Correct that’s the same as anything, it’s not hard if you know how.
The problem is many people can read wiring diagrams, but then still choose to carryout rough conversions. Usually by not wanting to spend the time physically doing the wiring correctly or by bodging the existing diesel fuel tank to “work”.
From what I’ve seen, I could probably count on both hands the number vans out there that are done right, the majority of which are on this forum. Some of the wiring I’ve seen first hand is just shocking, loom tape can hide a thousand sins!
