Selling van should I remove the racking

Post by Geraout »

About to sell my van and I was wondering whether to remove fitted wooden racking before taking the ad pictures.

Any thoughts?

without seeing the racking that your talking about ....
I would ask the question back at you
do u want to keep the racking ?
was it custom made for the van (not reusable in anoz)
would you be happy to sell it complete

my thoughts would be, show the van in its current state - with racking "working van"
can mention in the add that the racking can be included (and any associated cost) or removed prior to sale
wouldn't hurt to remove (if it's easy) and show pics without too

let people see the van for what it's worth
those searching for a caddy know how big it is
but to get their mind around what they cold use it for or how they could build out the back might not be so obvious

feel free to test the waters with pic here
u never know, a forum member might just be after what your offering :)

Thanks for the very useful reply.

Racking is wooden similar to this.

Great suggestion - I'll get some pics of the racking in situ and post them here for feedback.

Personally I would advertise the Caddy with photos of the van both with the racking system insitu and also after removal.

That way you don't limit your market. Just make sure your advertisement states the racking shown in the photo has been removed but if required can be purchased separately.

Not every potential buyer for your Caddy will be looking for one with a fitted racking system and indeed the thought of having to remove a racking system may put some buyers off.

You can also take photos without the shelf and sell the shelf itself separately.

Personally I don’t think it really makes a difference, how ever if the rackings quite dirty and battered I’d remove as it could give the impression the vans had quite a hard life.

I would leave it in incase the new owner wants it. You won't get much for it anyways, believe me.
