My new caddy

I didnt bother keeping the updates going as i got no response, and was on a time crunch getting closer to my deadline anyway.

I managed to get it mostly finished, and a lot of people really liked it at the show!
I didnt have time to paint the wheels, but i'll get around to that soon.
The interior is about 80% ready, i'll get some shots of that posted in the next few days, but i have been camping in the van all weekend so it really needs a tidy up haha

Totally get your sentiment about no comments but loads of us have enjoyed your incredible build being documented on this forum and it will be an inspiration for loads of people for years so has been well worth doing.

I'm going for lz49 gray metallic, same as i did my emblems in, its supposed to be the factory pretoria color, but its a bit darker than that. But i think it will work

I've had a sticky thermostat and a faultcode for the coolant temp sensor for a while, i changed those out the the other day

Still need to paint the bonnet hinges and the visible parts of the bay, and do some general tidying up in there. I have just replaced the bulkhead insulation pad for a better condition used one. the one i had was falling apart, I have also started changing out a some rusty hardware for freshies i had in my stash

Any plans for the engine? It seems to have missed your OCD that everything else has benefitted from so far!

Only due to lack of time It will get a tidy up under there, and im planning on getting new boost pipes and stuff.
My AC has started going out aswell, probably the condensor that has developed a small leak, so thats gonna need sorting out.

My ol man got inspired by my caddy, so he just picked one up for himself! 2014 edition 30 cr170 dsg. Quite a nice one, apart from some hillbilly styling

First time I’ve read through your entire build and I’m really impressed with your dedication and build quality as well as your taste. Love the car and what you have done to it!
You have picked out a lot of bits as I would have loved to have the time and funds to do, such as mirrors, rear taillights, touran dash & door cards. Still hope I will do all of that later on.

But what I like the most is that you have done a proper job with all the body work! I still need to to that for a lot of my panels.

Congratulations to your old man on his new Caddy. It looks nice. Four big ass spotlights is certainly one way to solve the poor light output from the stock headlights

Is there a similar deep dive restoration planned for your Dad's van? Or just de-redneck it and a few subtle mods?

I doubt there will be too many mods happening on my dads van, but probably some stuff
Theres a little bit of paintwork to be done, and all the redneck spray tinted lights gotta be sorted out.
Hes kinda down for life mirrors, and already talking about booking it in for a remap

Next to a van with Life mirrors the standard Caddy mirrors look like they are off a Playmobil toy

Think you might have another project van on your hands

Yeah they do look a lot better, and they produce way less wind noise compared to the standard mirrors, it was a night and day difference for me, the old ones whistled like crazy at higher speeds.

I did some troubleshooting on my AC, and it turns out it has started leaking massively trough the pins in the preassure sensor of all places
So i gotta get me one of those and swap it out

Yeah ive been kinda drawn to more OEM+ look for some years now

Some recent additions, matte chrome light switch, and one of my missing dash trims has been rourced




I got a replacement for my leaky ac preasure sensor ready to go on aswell
