installing a 3rd seat row in a caddy III 2k with barn doors.

Post by jmb23 »

Hi. I have a caddy III 2k and want to install a third seat row i purchased on ebay. The seat itself is easy, but the seat belt seems a bit harder. I need to find the right parts to fit them onto the column. I can only find a hole in the car body, but its not a threaded mount. Probably it needs to be welded?
Need some help here...

It is not clear what version Caddy you have.

Can you confirm its a 2007-2019 Short wheel base Caddy or is it a maxi?

Is it a car or a van model as both can have barn doors?

7 seats was offered as an option on maxi and SWB models but they were a very rare choice on the SWB models.

What seat are you attempting to fit? Was it sourced from a SWB Caddy or a Caddy Maxi or something else?

I only have a maxi so can only advise on how the 3rd row installs on that.

Basically a pair of seat mounting rails are bolted to the floor and the bench seat then is designed to clip securely onto pegs protruding from those rails.

In the middle of a genuine Caddy rear row seat, there will be seat belt fasteners, but the actual seat belt anchorages and inertial reel mechanism are attached directly to the vehicle frame - not the seat.
