Firstly Thanks to the whole Forum for the many builds, ongoing projects & informative threads !!
This has helped me immensely in choosing my van and how i want to build it going forward.
I have spent 8 months waiting for the right one to come up for sale, it is being delivered tomorrow
My stipulation was (in no particular order) -Mk4, DSG gearbox, Tailgate, dual sliding doors, SWB, under 50kmiles, ULEZ Compliant and untouched on the modding front. (I want to make sure its not botched!) ohh and under £18000.
So here she is ... Big Bertha/Dobervan *(Name still undecided… Might put it to a vote? the van is going to be used for Golfing (Hence Big bertha) and Carrying our Doberman on her many journeys across the country (Hence DoberVan)
My Plans so far are:
Insurance - Brentacre (Already completed £495 with all the mods im doing included in the price)
Stage 1 Remap - leaning towards TH Performance (Pendle Performance group) in Portsmouth area..unless anyone has a better option in Hampshire area?
Lowering - Darkside VW Caddy Mk3 / Mk4 Van Bilstein Lowering Kit ? but again open to suggestions (Its not a show/race van!)
Solar Panel & Charger/Battery – already bought 100ah Lith, Epever Tracer controller and 100w Semi Flex Fiberglass Panel with Hidden JB (Similar to Dan Chambers Panel install) This is for charging Golf related gear, like the trolley battery, rangefinder and our walking gear, torches etc etc
New 19” or 20” Alloys – so many to choose from !! very much open to suggestions on this.(I will be driving on country roads and parking in sometimes muddy verge’s!
Seats - not 100% decided, like the look of the seat covers from Seat Surgeons, mine are heated, so open to guidance?
Sound deadening (Floor and walls) – DIY, probably Dodo mats?
Carpeting for walls/roof – DIY .. open to suggestions or will trawl the many posts on here for inspiration.
Flooring – DIY, has to be nonslip but easy to clean muddy pawprints!
Remove Bulkheads – DIY
Wiper-Delete Rear & Add security plate to inside of window – DIY< fairly easy from what I have read
I Did contemplate swapping out the Tailgate for a solid one?
Sliding door plates – How expensive are they for what they are !!! bloody hell!
Wind Deflectors – DIY
Smoked Rear lights – open to suggestions of where/type
Front lights – might just upgrade the bulbs as they look ok to me? , otherwise I read a Touran swap is good?
Foggers – again just update the bulbs to LED
Side indicators – already have a brand new T6 Dynamic set I didn’t get round to installing on my old camper.. so will use them as im 99% sure they fit?
Side Skirts – not 100 sure which yet as I want it all to match the white/black
VW Badge swap – Gloss black front and back badges…although I read somewhere on here the front might be an issue due to the sensor?
Front splitter – think they look descent so why not
Bumper protector – stop unwanted scratches from golf gear being taken in and out the back.
Golf club/trolley racking – Building a bespoke racking in the rear of the van, that’s accessed from the tailgate (Tailgate to keep me dry on wet days) and the whole of the rear (behind the Tailgate) Wall to wall will be sectioned for golf clubs, electric trolley, wet clothes and all the charging statins etc (As well as the battery and controller from the solar panel)
